Corolla GR-FOUR
So many have commented on that .....It really doesn't effect me that much. It probably has active valving and the designers spoke that it was needed to help achieve 300 hp. This still amazes me (100 hp) per cylinder out of a 1.6L. stock!! .... with potential for more.
Aftermarket will be available to change exhaust as everyone wants their own flavor. If is sounds good stock it will give some creedance to the look.
Remember GR made the amazing sounding LFA.
If it sounds and performs better than the current 3 pot FiST....I'm all in.

sure it may be functional, but they could have achieved the same functionality with either center or dual... and at least the honda hdmi exhaust can be easily replaced by the aftermarket and not have any empty bumper cutouts to deal with
I have a feeling that the GR Corolla will be at the top of the hot hatches when it comes out. When I was watching the livestream it does seem like Toyota put this chassis iteration through more development time as eluded by the engineer on the livestream. Even if the car weighs 3200-3300 most of that weight can be unbolted or parts lightened. The engine is the best part of this car as its an open deck that can take massive amounts of abuse.
Subaru used to dominated some ~80% of the manual AWD segment. Now this GR Corolla might be destined to become an instant classic.
Keep in mind that the GR Corolla's AWD system is capable of 30:70 front/rear torque split, which could make it an absolute blast to drive:

The engine is connected exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission and a GR-Four all-wheel drive system. Like on the GR Yaris, the system is adjustable and offers front/rear power splits of 60:40, 50:50, and 30:70. This means the car can be front biased, neutral, or rear biased at the twist of a knob.

Even the new lotus weighs like 3100 pounds, GT4RS is at 3200.
Focus RS was 3,434 lbs!
Even the"trick" RS AWD system didn't save much weight and had issues on the track. Doubt Torsen diffs will have a problem.
Toyota giving us a slightly larger platform than the GR Yaris but nicely included a power bump...which they didn't need to do.
As far as pricing....Hyundai Elantra N was going for 37K! Markups around 40K. Prices now are rediculous everywhere.
Hyundai actually warned US dealers not to mark up over MSRP or they would pull their dealerships. If markups go too high it just discourages buyers and sales numbers fall. Will see how Toyota deals with it ...or if they do.
I've been following the Supra thread on here, with a bit of depression as there is no way I could grab one of those. However, this little gem is another story and I am very interested in what the engine is capable of past the 300hp it comes with. Is it already strung within an inch of its life? I didn't think it was common for cars to be equipped from the factory with BALL BEARING turbo(s) either. I need to lookup what the engine SOUNDS like too, because there is nothing I hate more than the sound that my Evo X makes and there is NO FIX'IN that.
Price will be huge. There are apparently a bunch of dealers taking reservations at "MSRP". Some of my local dealers have already stopped taking deposits. From what I have been reading, it seems like price is expected to slot in between the 86 and the Supra. Mid-low 30's for the core, low 40's for the CE.
It's Toyota, so I'm not too worried about the motor. AFAIK it's already been proven in the GRY.

Like what do we have that is all-wheel drive 300hp and under 3200 lbs available to us new?
