Firming-up the St.Louis Dyno Day date(s)
N10S, sorry I haven't been available to be more helpful. I just talked to Ron and he said you went there to talk to him about the Nov. 1st date.
For everyone else. It looks like things are good to go for the 1st. Ron just wants a list of people attending. Also, Ron asked me if anyone wants a certain part for their Evo. He said he can stock some parts. I know he has a direct account with JUN in Japan, but I don't know how long it takes to get parts shipped to him. I told him he might want to stock some intakes and exhausts. Anything else you guys are looking to buy, let me know. Ron can order them and it would save you guys some shipping costs and waiting, he can get pretty much anything.

No problem turbopoo2000. Boomn29 and I had hoped to actually make a trip to the Dyno location in Belleville to meet with you and Ron.When I talked with Ron, I realized that with his current project deadline was going to keep him locked-in at the old site downtown for the duration of this week for sure. I was on business downtown and stopped by for a bit to introduce myself.
Man....you weren't kidding about Ron being a serious gear-head, Ron was up to his elbows working on a Wrx with a custom FMIC and big-*** turbo kit. He mentioned something like 450-500hp. Seems to be a real sharp guy who knows his stuff.
We did discuss dyno logistics if Works is doing on-site re-flashes. Ron says three runs to establish the base, then the reflash followed by 3-4 more run. So basically we will be looking at 6-7 runs per car for those getting a re-flash(if we hit our numbers and they are on site.
Ron also mentioned that he actually has a BBQ pit over there already, so we can do an on-site BBQ if we want to re-think that one. I will begin to get some background info for directions, hotel rates etc.... .
Turbopoo2000, perhaps you could post directions for folks coming from various locations. Seems like we will have a few coming from the west and some coming from the north as well. I was going to contact Ron for that info, but if you already know(which you do) we can keep the badgering to a minimum especially being respectful of his project deadline.
Thanks again for the feedback turbopoo2000!

With winter on our doorsteps, nearly all of us are likely going to have to be shelling out for new shoes for the EVO in addition the ECU reflash in the next month or so. Some of us on a budget have a tough decision to make... we could either go with winter tires only (using stock wheels) and probably afford the boost control reflash (depending on pricing), or we could go with a completely new set of 17x7 wheels and tires for winter use instead, and put off the boost control reflash till the spring (and using the Bill Gates analogy: wait for the bugs to be worked out and service packs applied!)...
times running out, the reflash day is only like 3 weeks away!
Each week that passes without the boost control reflash already being available on the market gives me more and more of an uneasy feeling. Is the boost control reflash actually going to be ready for our reflash day? are we truly going to be the first people to receive it? Is that a good thing? Just a thought, if we really are the guinea pigs, how about we swing a deal where we are guaranteed a free reflash "upgrade" within 6 months in case of issues with it, since we may end up sort of testing it for them...
anything firmed up yet on the price of the boost control reflash?
expected power gains from it?
Thanks guys!

Timing is always a factor in every decision we make, and to be honest, I personally would have like to have had the info on the P2 boost control reflash going into the deal several weeks ago.
Works is not typically quick to release info until they are 110% certain they have covered every base. Once they check every base, then they methodically double, and triple check their data to confirm repeatability. This is why Works products are dead-reliable, and also why you and the others interested in the product can be certain that you will not be guinea pigs for an untested and unproven product.
Unfortunately this attention to detail often results in a slow-roll of info which can drive folks a little crazy with anticipation. I am just like you guys, periodically scanning the boards to see if the Works P2 info is out yet.
Btw- I wouldn't worry about the P2 being available for our dyno day, as we are already seeing beta customers in SanFrancisco area using the product with excellent results it appears. I do however, think that the pricing and performance data is extremely important in helping folks feel confident in staying on board with this GB. My biggest concern will be keeping momentum and participation in the gb to get Works on site.
Until we have the formal info in front of us we can't make a logical decision, and I am personally sorry that this is a factor at this point in the game.

I already bought some all-seasons for the colder weather and im too cheap to buy a new set of wheels. Works did not have to work any bugs out of their first reflash. They do so much testing that i trust their products are top notch.
I just hope we get enough people to have Works there, to do the on-site reflashes. I just don't want to deal with ECU removal and mailing.
Do these directions sound about right if we are coming from the Chicago area?
1. I-55 S ST LOUIS. 240.30 miles
2. Merge onto I-255 S toward MEMPHIS. 8.81 miles
3. Merge onto IL-15 E via exit number 17A toward BELLEVILLE. 8.11 miles
4. Take the IL-158/ CENTREVILLE AVE ramp toward MILLSTADT. 0.16 miles
5. Turn LEFT onto IL-158/ CENTREVILLE AVE. Continue to follow CENTREVILLE AVE. 0.84 miles
6. Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto W WASHINGTON ST. 0.16 miles
7. Turn LEFT onto S 2ND ST. 0.20 miles
8. Turn RIGHT onto W B ST. 0.07 miles
9. Turn RIGHT onto N 1ST ST. 0.05 miles

Hopefully turbopoo2000 can confirm those directions evo8usa. If he doesn't see the post maybe another of the east side owners has enough familiarity to confirm the data.
I think I will make a run over there this week trying to use/confirm the above mapquest info, and try to make certain everything is correct with directions and maybe throw in a few landmark references as well.
I have used mapquest on a couple of occasions and gotten lost big time thanks to recent road changes etc..... . The last thing anyone needs is the headache of getting turned-around and wasting time and energy searching for a location.

that's right
2. Merge onto I-255 S toward MEMPHIS. 8.81 miles
this too

that's correct
4. Take the IL-158/ CENTREVILLE AVE ramp toward MILLSTADT. 0.16 miles
this is the retarded way to go
keep going down 15 and go to 159 instead, make a left, keep driving down 159 until you reach a fountain in the middle of the road, go straight pass the fountain (it's a "round about" type of deal at the fountain), continue on 159.
5. Turn LEFT onto IL-158/ CENTREVILLE AVE. Continue to follow CENTREVILLE AVE. 0.84 miles
ignore this
6. Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto W WASHINGTON ST. 0.16 miles
nope
7. Turn LEFT onto S 2ND ST. 0.20 miles
nope
8. Turn RIGHT onto W B ST. 0.07 miles
ignore
9. Turn RIGHT onto N 1ST ST. 0.05 miles
After the fountain you should still be on 159, N 1ST ST. will be on your LEFT. Look for a building on your left that says "Big Top Skakepark" and "Circus Skakes", that is the building you need to go to.

Also, forgot to add that there is a parking lot in front of the skate park/ dyno shop. There are meters in front of every parking space, it costs 25 cents for 5 hours to park there. There is a good chance we will have to park in the lot since there is no parking signs all the way down 1st street and there is maybe room for 4 cars in the back of the shop. So remember to bring a quarter.
EDIT: I also plan on getting to the dyno shop earlier than everyone, so if you're not sure where to park, just look for my red Evo.
