I was in New Jersey when this particular bill hit the cut-off date for the governor to sign it, so I'm a little late to replying, but: at exactly 60 days after being sent from the Speaker to the Gov, it's status went from "Sent to the Governor" to Public Act.

So, I'd expect to see the new tint law automatically convert to a public act in the next couple of days, unless something very strange happens.

Different bill (and the one I linked to above). The one we're all taking about is this one.

It was an amendatory veto, which means that he made some changes to the bill. So now, you are allowed to have 50% on the front and black paint in the back. Correct me if I am wrong though...

Oh and that ISN'T the law just yet. They are bringing it back to the house for another round. This will be happening in October.

Right, it's definitely not law right now. Quinn sent it back to the house and senate saying, essentially, "oh hai, i c u haz a bill, but u dun membered to think of SUVs, lol! i can haz more wordz so dey can haz origiminal tintzors on dere bak windoze? kthxbye!"

Yeah, I'm really tired right now.

It's the same thing as when the amendment was made in the senate; because one of the three parties wants a change, all three have to agree to the new text. This should be a rubber-stamp in both houses, essentially agreeing with the governor's amended text, but there's an opportunity for additional junk to creep in now. I believe the process is that it has to be amended and put forward again in the house by the sponsor, voted on, then the amended text is sent to the senate, then hopefully goes directly to the Governor again, assuming more amendments don't creep in along the way.

I don't know what scares me more...the words in the sentence, or the fact that I could actually read it

+1

So basically we have to wait until October for them to even vote on it again? And then another 90 days for the govenor to accept, veto, or change things again. Is that correct?

Anybody able to decipher this and put it in plain English as to what it allows and what it does not? From what I gather:

If your car came with factory tints in the back and clear glass to the driver's left and right, you can have up to 50% tints on those two windows.

If your car did not come with factory tints in the back, you can get all back windows and windows to the driver's left and right up to 35% tint.

Is that correct? If that's the case I'll go with 35% tints all around prematurely and wait for it to become legal
