To my understanding its legal to tint the front 2 windows now.

The higher % is lighter and lower % is darker.

Somehow I feel that now that the bill has passed in both houses.. it needs to be signed into law now. If that's the case how long will it take for this to happen.?

Now, it has to be formly written into a law and sent to the govorners office. He can either sign it or veto it...

No idea how longs this will take. It isnt quite ready yet, so dont go arguing with any cops...

This is correct. Had a vehicle in my work with the black letters.

Actually, it's back in the House now, so they can ratify the amendment that was made in the Senate; it's on the schedule as of now, so hopefully it'll come up in the House tomorrow.

Once that's done, it goes to the Governor's desk, as I understand it. So, we're still a little way from it being law, but it's very close now.

Here's the link to the bill, for those who want to see what's happened to it over the course of it's progression, and what the current text says.

The amendment made in the Senate is confusing the crap out of me, anybody care to explain what was changed since it was passed thru the House?

Although, they've called out manufacturer-applied front tinting (up to 50%) on trucks as being specifically permitted for some reason; seems a little weird, since the 50%/30% rule already would seem to cover it.

They also cleaned up the language regarding special WT plates; if you have them, you're excempt from the restrictions entirely, and it's unambiguous now. A piece of good news in the amended version for installers is that they no longer have to keep a copy of the doctor's certified statement on file: as long as the driver already has WT plates on the car, that appears to be good enough. A good thing from a privacy perspective, at the very least.

For IL what would you guys think woudl be the best setup %'s on tints? you guys agree that 35 all around would be ideal? I hear sometimes people get 20% all around... is that too dark?

but taking into account that it should be legalized soon... i'm looking into what tint would look good on my car while still not being too dark

so you're thinking 35 would even be too dark?

With tints any random cop can pull you over and give you a ticket....

No worth it until the law is passed....

It depends on where you live/drive. In the city the cops couldn't care less. I've had 35% all around for some time and don't get bothered.

the burbs are a different story,...I've heard naperville is bad for example.
