Comprehensive Evo STU prep thread?
Fact is that if an AWD car has a wheel in the air, it's losing power that should be put to work making it accelerate out of a corner.
This is what makes sorting out an AWD drivetrain for autox particularly unique. Unlike the EP Civics tricycling around corners on slicks with a rear 1 foot in the air, or the DSP Bimmers doing the same yet with the front inside, we don't have the luxury of letting a wheel do hang time w/o hurting performance to some degree.
Dave Mac, Hope you have everything ready for the 15th AI event and give the M3's a run for their money. I have adjusted the camber to -2.5 front and -1.5 back and "trying" to switch to 17x9s. Now I just need to learn how to drive.
dannykao,
Great pics!
Dave,
Once you get the suspension done the shat will hit the fan. Once the body roll goes away the times will go down!
Adam or Dave,
Found this picture on asianguywithacamera today. Which one of us is this?

Mac - keep me posted on where and when you are running. I want to get out to some of the non-local stuff to see you run.
Adam-
I'm running at Ripken on the 15th of April with Autocrossers Inc. Come on down, I'm sure you could borrow the family Evo. If not you may drive mine. Check out www.autocrossersinc.org to register.

I'll keep you updated with any new status.
Thanks,

Fellas,
Looks like the AI event at the Ripken this Sunday will be a rain soaked event. Any suggestion on how to drive in the rain? The few events I drove in have all been dry and I wonder if slowing the car down is my only choice. Thanks in advance.

Slow down early, run the course "tight". Kinda want to point and shoot as much as you can. There will be no grip at Ripken, especially since it will be REALLY f'n cold too.

Dave Mac, This may sound stupid, but how is the car going to behave during slaloms? Will fast transitions in the wet just make the car super tail happy?
I set up the car with -2.75 front and -1.5 rear and 0/0 toe front and rear. 245/40/17 on 17x9 Team Dynamic 1.2s. Coilovers - 1 inch lower on all four corners. The car feels "strange" when it is going in a straight line, but it turns in super quick and holds the line really well. Is this how I am suppose to feel with this suspension setup? Thanks and see you Sunday. Danny

It will push a bit initally from low grip then get neutral momentairly and then snap oversteer into a big f'n spin.
Actually your car should be fairly neutral to slightly tail happy. Watch your back end on the quick transitions it may move quite a bit for you. Don't make ANY adjustments on ride height until you run in warm/dry weather. You may want to back down your damping for Sunday since it will be cold/wet. Start there and we'll see how it progresses for you Sunday.
Is your car "tuned" yet?

Dave Mac,
I did a mail in flash with dynoflash, buschur Stage 1 without MBC. It's plenty powerful for me and I certainly don't do it justice. Looks like a ton of rain tomorrow. I will stop by and say hello. Thanks! Danny

Thanks for introducing yourself. It was great to meet you. I hope you had fun!

Thanks for the compliment. No suspension/wheels/tires/bushings at all, it's still bone stock suspension wise. Needless to say I can't wait to get it all installed.
When you buy your Evo and if you decide on a tune you should stop by www.CBRDspeedfactory.com
Chad is one of my sponsors and did a GREAT STU legal tune for me.
I ended up taking FTD today, just in front of Sam Strano and 2nd in the Pro Class, just (.091) behind Sam Strano. My last run it was drying a bit (well, as dry as it could be anyway) so I had an advantage. Normally I'm happy to be within 2 seconds of a driver that is Sam's caliber.
