Comprehensive Evo STU prep thread?
Dave Mac,
It was great meeting you also! Thanks for the suspension suggestion. Sam's ride was certainly awesome - solid rear axle, rear drive in the pouring rain! But I am glad the Evo takes the FTD, stock tires, stock suspension and all!
Can't wait to see the STU124 fully decaled. You have to put Chad to work!
iewgnaw, next time don't forget to bring some more clothes. You deserve to win some kind of prize for working in the 40 degree soaking rain storm in a pair of baggy shorts and hootie. Good runs in the RX8!
Dave, hope your winning streak continues! See you all at Fedex.

Dave Mac,
Any pictures yet? Congrats BTW. I am afraid to say this, cause I have to race against you in 2 weeks but..... I think this is just the begining. Just wait till it is at full STU prep. I am excited for Park City, see you there.
CBRD,
Speaking of..... Chad I need to stop by next week for an "update" before the 29th Park City event.

Thanks Adam. I had better conditions to run in than Sam though so I'm not gonna put TOO much weight on this past event. We'll see where the car is at after it's all set-up and I've run some events in the dry. I'm not predicting sh*t yet, I don't want a "bounty-on-my-head". All I can say is regardless of AWD it's VERY hard to put down 344crank-hp to the ground in the wet.

I ran a Philly event yesterday in Warminster and my co-driver, who has never driven my car and hasn't autocrossed in over a year beat me by 4 tenths with the winner being 6 tenths ahead. He did have a magic first run, which was the winning run as the rest of his times were much higher but, that's racing.
Are you going to run with us when we hold an event at Ripken?
Congrats to Geoff Clark for winning the Atwater National Tour over some tough west coast competition. Looks like the old VIIIs still have some life to them. That makes 3 Evos winning the last 3 STU National Events.
Side note: All three evos were running our race cats also.
Once the we determine the new configurations needed we'll get some more. Looks like a few want the 300cell 3' version.
Thanks for waiting.
Rick

They're almost a good as my Perrin HFC.
They're just designed to flow a little better with a more progressive angle to the
cells and from the cells so that there is less turbulence. Truithfully I don't think they are all that different from any other quality metal substrate HFC. Most of them are made in one of three factories that make them. They are far better than most of the el-cheapos out there though. You'd need to weld it in or weld on your own flanges.

I haven't checked evom since the last autocross season. This thread is definitely a good idea, I remember checking everywhere for this info..
I have a '05 VIII and it's been through two autocross seasons stock. I've always wanted to make suspension changes to it but I've never done anything on a car except change the tires on it and change the brake pads, so I don't know how much I can do on my own. So far the only change I've made is new pads - Ferodo and I had a shop give me as much negative camber as they could on the front as well as dialing in toe on all corners (I forget what I went with).
I'm thinking for this season I might finally change something, but I guess I have to figure out what first. I'd like to get some double adjustable coilovers but the price might keep me from doing it for a while, heh.
Anyway, great thread.
