I'd suggest adding Jake Diehl to the list of custom ECU tuners. He recently did mine and I'm thrilled with it. Not to mention he tuned the Subby that won STU the last two years.
And taught you guys how to look for illegal dyno graphs

Davemac, I got you beat on both fronts - softer springs, and a lot less than no talent. Ha!

So who's staying in STU and who's moving on to a different class due to the new September Fast-track update?

I am going to stay in STU, nothing listed in the current FasTrack makes my car illegal since I'm not using any tricks to fool either O2 sensor on my car. On the plus side, the current "clarification" does specify EPA emissions guidelines and not EPA rules regarding cats so at least that doesn't contradict the STX/STU ruleset.

I am glad that I'll be missing out the first hand drama that is for sure to unfold at Nationals, I guess I'll just have to be content with reading about it on the forums.....

I'm staying in STU for now. Maybe BSP next year so I can play with boost and get my *** kicked by Lee Piccone. He's been bugging me to play in BSP next year.

More than likely no one in STU will jump ship. There is plenty of information out now that invalidates the vague ST clarifications if there was an actual protest or impound equipment check.

I'm staying.

With all these "clarifications", I figured if I keep my car stock on street tire, I will win the STU eventually. Everybody will get protested out!

What does the emission rule really means? Does this mean no high flow CATs at all? Can anyone recommend a 100% legal exhaust setup so we can all avoid this non-sense?

Thanks. Danny

If you go to Random Technology's webpage
http://www.randomtechnology.com/
They state that their HFC meet EPA and Carb requirement with proper tuning.
This design, which meets Federal EPA and California ARB requirements, enables virtually any vehicle with a properly tuned engine to meet emissions standards with little, if any power loss (compared to an exhaust with no catalytic converter). Please note that it is illegal to remove a properly functioning catalytic converter and that aftermarket catalytic converters are not legal for installation in California on OBD II vehicles (some 1994 & 1995, and all 1996 and later vehicles).
But then again they say they are not legal for OBD2 vehicles in CA .... I know from personal experience, that I have to use an O2 extender to stop the CEL from coming on. There have been several instances of local guys using the RandomTech HFC with no issues for upto 10K miles and then a CEL pops up in some cases it is sooner ....

Only way will be to go back to a stock cat, IMHO .... I wonder how this is going to shake things up in STX with the WRX handicapped .... Anyone want to make any predictions?

I predict a MiniS or ITR to take STX if they do indeed successfully choke the WRX. Like Dave said above, I don't think any of this is going to stick.

I'll stay in STU. I like learning how to drive without the bandaid of R-comps.

I'm not going to nats this year and I'll see how things shake out in Sept.

Don't want to risk the time and $ to throw a CEL from stalling from a spin.

In STX the BMWs could be the next fastest to the WRXs.

Aye, I forgot about the BMW's.

It'd be kinda funny to see you go to Nats and get protested.

That would make for an interesting article in Sports Car.

"You know that STU prepped Evo we had on the COVER last year......it's illegal."

I'd like to see them back-pedal our of that one!

Finishes 6th at Nationals last year, but not going? I was looking forward to seeing the "Wing" again.

Rick, I sincerely hope your decision to not go to Topeka wasn't solely due to the clarification. Hope you change your mind, you'll be missed.

Man, you guys are making me wish I was going.

Dave, you'll see a couple of my wings in the ST classes, just got some new cool stainless mounts made for the Evo trunk.

Jake, I was looking forward to getting one of your tunes out there. You're lucky you live so close. It cost us thousands of $ to make the trip to get that fake marble chunk - but it was worth it. I was talking to Dave about the top 10, also heard Neary and Uyeda are not in STU this year. Montinishi called me a while ago about his SportsCar prediction list, I'd change it some now.

Brian, a few factors like my co-driver Tom is still recovering, car transport, need a tune ^, running the late in the week, no Pro series, the clarification was the last straw. Doug Gill did do a CEL check on my car before. It's great racing with you and Jay though, too bad I've only ran well at the practice when you guys were out here.

I know you guys are just looking to bulk up the class to make more trophy spots!
