For reference, at Nationals my SE weighed 3099 with just a trace of fuel, 17x9 5zigen wheels, lightweight battery, Buschur cat-back, and stock seats. I was pretty happy about that.

Hello, with the season winding down, I like to get my Ohlins Sportline shocks and struts dynoed. Could anyone recommend a place to go to? Thanks in advance. Danny

Just want you guys to know that after I bought my secret weapon from Rick, the car has been undefeated: 2 BMW events in X class, 2 STU class events (one at AI, one at Cumberland), and the car just won the WDCR Solo championship in STU with RacerMike driving.

It's gotta be the WINGS!

Thanks again Rick. I say it's the Wings and I am sticking to it.

What seat of the pants benefits have you guys had with the Boeing wing? My assumption is that it allows the rear to be more planted so to speak but, I am curious to know what you have to say.

I guess you can adjust the wing just like the rear swaybar adjustments. In theory it gives you more downforce for high speed, so you can set up your rear sway in the stiff position to get more rotation in slower speed turns and not worry about being too lose in higher speed. Maybe Rick can elaborate more on this.

I think it "looks" faster, so it's gotta be faster... The record (or luck) speaks for itself...

That would have been nice to have at Ripken this weekend There were alot of off camber sections and the car was oversteering initially, then I corrected that. Then it was understeering and I dialed that out, than it went back to oversteering Frustrating to say the least.

Per the SCCA STU rule, the wing has no significant function at solo speeds.

I have some cool stainless bolt-on adjustable Evo trunk mount brackets, if anyone interested in running one of these non-functional wings.

Rick

Hey Danny, There is an EMRA event end of Nov at slippery point I don't know which track yet ,but it will be at least 4 20 min. track sessions and 2 timed laps..figure about 100+ track miles. That will make the bologna slicer really work. Less than$200..cheaper than sex and lasts longer. Pete

I would love to come down but, I can't make it this weekend. Philly has 2 more events and I need to make those as the wife won't let me do an extra one in there since we are at Warminster on the 28th.

Soooo, the wing has no effect at Solo speeds but, it is supposed to allow for greater grip in the rear so that a larger rear sway bar can be used for greater initial turn in grip. So its not functional then huh

How can one go about getting one of these "nonfunctional" wing setups? I assume one would just order the APR wing (which one again?) and order Rick's brackets? Rick, how can we order the brackets?

Were you at Ripken this weekend? I think I saw your wing as i drove by on 95....

Is that a Cusco wing? The BIG carbon APR wing is a little expensive but supposedley has less of a drag penalty.

I think it was Mike driving to Fedex that you saw.

I think the wing is an APR GT II wing with brackets made by Rick at Ciro Design. People either love it or hate the way it looks. I figure if the car continues to be fast, people will like them eventually.

I personally think the car look much better with it, so even though Rick says it's non-functional, and it is a little heavier than the stock wing, I do think it's a definite worthwhile purchase to me. I prefer to go wing-less, but if I need to have a wing, I might as well having the biggest one allowed by the rulebook. JMHO.

Adam, totally understand the family situation. My daughter is in college and the younger one is applying college now, so I am almost ready for race anytime... almost is the key word here.

I got the APR wing and the brackets from Rick as a package. The APR wing mounting holes need to be relocated and Rick's folks did that for me already. All I have to do is to loosely assemble the wing, remove the existing wing, put 2 sided tape under Ricks base mounting bracket and install the base brackets in the existing mounting hole on the trunk, and install the wing tower brackets to the base brackets and the wing. I keep everything lose until everything is attached, then I tighten the bolts. Everything fits nicely for me and the wing has been installed for almost two months, and I have no problem with it what so ever.

One extra benefit: the wing is tall enough that the rear window view is no longer blocked.

I basically bought everything from Rick and I thought it was a great deal. It's on part with the APR wing price and just a little more for the custom brackets. It's a lot cheaper than the Vortex wings, and I think it looks very "custom". You can also substitute with APR EVO wings or chose a different side plate, but I like the GTII wing's look a lot more.

I guess that's functional enough for me.

See you at the next Ripken Philly event. Danny

I hear you about the family stuff. I have a 2 1/2 year old and 11 month, both boys, and they keep me plenty busy, plus with all the customer cars sitting in my shop that I work on after the boys go down for the night and after my normal 9 to 5 I barely have time to breath!!!!

Anyway, hopefully you guys come out on the 11th at Ripken. I may make that one and would like to check the wing out there. It sounds promising but, of course no effect at Solo speeds ;-)
