i'm sad that a trip to europe has stopped my modding for most of this year! i'm still rocking the Muellerized BC but i really wanted to upgrade to some nice ohlins or motons, also having one set of wheels has been killer for me as well, no more R comps for me

july fastrack is out.
http://scca.com/documents/Fastrack/0...-july-solo.pdf

SM relavent content:

-Carbon trunks=approved
-Revised min weight for AWD cars=2820lbs for a 2L evo.
-the rediculous seat rule is getting fixed in SP which applies to SM.

SP might get 2 piece rotors

Wow, you had me scared for a minute! I thought you were saying all of those were approved. After reading it, it seems that :

- carbon trunk = approved pending BOD approval

- revised weight = changed, put back to members for comment.

The weight calc revision would be 2820# for a 2L, and 2910# for a 2.3L.

What we need is a couple light EVOs to attend the ProSolos and NatTours and Nationals and show that we are not as dominant as they think . . . If we can get some sub-2820# evos out there then they will be FAR less likely to pass this rule and force people to ADD weight to their car.

If we continue to win a lot this year and all the cars are OVER 2820# then this rule WILL be passed. . .

I'm probably not much help at 3075. Marshall and I got 1-2 at SD, and I expect to do well at Wendover.

I like the CF trunk and 2pc rotor possibilities.

How much does your car weigh?

Personally I could find a lot of other things to spend 20 grand on other then turning a car that is already capable of winning SM into a lighter car that is capable of winning SM. That might just be me though.

the current seat rule is basically the same as is in the fasttrack in that they are trying to eliminate using kart seats, etc, but also adds a 25lb minimum weight for the seat/tracks and requires that you use all of the factory mounting holes.

I like the seat rule, only because the kart seats are lame and are just an unnecessary expense for a regular street car. Either let it be no seat or require a full seat.

i'm ok with no kart seats. i'm not ok with setting a minimum weight for the seat. or at least one that's so high. It's pretty easy to beat the 25 lbs they set, ie. bolt in a factory lotus elise seat/ultrashield/sparco. So I like the new proposed version of the rule.

I have a 6 pound cart seat (including brackets) for the passenger side for sale. Mounts using stock fasteners. Just for looks, will not support Gary Coleman or Webster, much less one of us. . .

Actually, maybe I'll keep it for nostalgia. Some day SCCA may have a "Retro Race" where you can pick and choose from past rules. Then I can throw it in the car and say "Remember when this used to be considered 'normal'? Heck, people used to put these in the drivers side and sit in them!"

BTW, I don't think it would cost $20K to get to the current minimum weight. From where I'm at now you can get to 24XX pounds following XP rules for ONLY $14000! Of course the car would not be street legal, or legal for any other form of racing anywhere in the world!

I thought the seat rule was 20# for SP and SM, and 25# for ST?

15.2.F
The driver and front passenger seats may be replaced, with the
following restrictions: The seating surface must be fully upholstered.
The top of the seat, or an attached headrest, may not be
below the center of the driver’s head. The seat, including mounting
hardware, must weigh at least 20 pounds and must be attached
using the standard body mounting holes/studs. Additional
mounting points may be added.
Just so we know how light 20# is - an 18" Ultrashield RallySport seat, fabric seat cover, Sparco seat base, and nuts and bolts comes in over 20#. That is a hard mounted seat with no sliders and no side mount brackets. Add sliders and you'll be over 25#.

I agree the weight minumum should go, while requiring full-sized seats.

Have you ever weighed the seats in Tom's car? The Pro2000 fiberglass model weighs 19#. Add in the base and slider and fasteners I bet it is pretty close to 30#. . .

Even though the new seat rule proposal won't affect me, I still support it.
