I think a cap is a good idea and would bring some parity to F1 and allow more teams to participate. I understand that it would hinder innovation which has been a hallmark of the sport. However, having different rules for teams that maintain or exceed the cap is total bull. I don't blame any team from exiting. the FIA is obviously trying to keep both sides happy, with this retarded idea. That never works.

This all just proves Bernie is destroying F1. One of the most fascinating seasons in recent memory, and all we can talk about is the off-track bull**** that Bernie and Max keep doing. The racing is secondary.

FWIW, everything Bernie has done in the ~10 years I've been watching this sport has been principally about lining his own pockets with more money. The capped two-tier system means more teams, more revenue, and guess what? More money for Bernie.

^ Double post gotcha... lol...

And its not Bernie, its Max. Max is in charge of all that stuff being Pres of the FIA. He's the one with the rediculous technical rules.

Bernie is the one pushing the cap though. Max just pushes through the rules to make them "legit".

As much as it pisses me off, I hope the teams do walk and just form a stand alone World Championship with no greedy middle men. FOTA can handle all of that, one representative from each team have to make up the committee that decides on the rules and regulations, it would be simple.

Teams would make more money than they do now, the municipalities would be charged less for the right to host the races which means they make more money. They could go back to the old tracks and become more European focused again and have maybe a double presence in North America.

That's how I see it anyway.

Hopefully it would lead to a lot less off track nonsense like we have now. This is worse than a soap opera!

I agree 100%.

3-4 North American races (Montreal, Indy, Laguna, Vegas?), 2-3 in Asia (Australia, Japan, China?), and 10-12 European races. None of this 3rd world crap. Race where the manufacturers sell cars and the tracks have 150,000 fans.

Everyone except Bernie wins. Which is perfectly fine in my book.

They don't benefit the manufacturers as much, and they cost a LOT of money to go to. You want cost savings, stop filling 20 planes full of gear and flying all over the world.

I dunno about that Billy, LOL. There have been some good races for sure on some of the non original tracks but surely not the best races of the season material. But even if they were fantastic races the only coverages they get is TV, which is great for the FIA but not so great for the manufacturers that want to get closer to the fans.

I think we can all agree that even though watching on TV you see the action much better and more comfortably, there is just something magical about being there in person. Surrounded by thousands upon thousands of like minded fans.

The teams know that the personal side of F1 will be washed away with more of these remote location tracks where general interest and fan involvement is much lower than a comparable European, North American or Brazilian GP. Japan and China I would include within the elite markets obviously.
