2009 Formula 1 Discussion
Just got back home and watched the race yesterday... been away for a little over a week and all I have to say is... F YEAH!
Kimi quali in second and finishing third, I'll take it! Great to see both the Ferrari's finishing the race in the points. Third and fourth is really all any of us SF fans can ask for, for now at least.
Best part of the weekwnd though was Hami hitting the wall in Q1. I was cheering so loud, my wife was like wtf? It was great. Then to see him walk all the way back to the pits with his helmet on... priceless!
Shame to see Vettel crash, oh well though. Kimi made my day!

Now they're saying Toyota is out of F1. They will not be submitting there name for next years championship. Looks like everyone else will, including three new teams. Today is the deadline to register...

Now it looks as if all the members of FOTA have signed on for next year, although rumors still exist about the future of Toyota in F1.

There is now nine new teams that have submitted there entry to the FIA for the chance to compete in F1 next season. Crazy ish...
Can't wait for practice to kick off tomorrow, although I don't enjoy the races on Fox nearly as much as on Speed. Just ready for the cars to be back on track.

IMHO, if the main car manufacturers leave F1 (eg: Toyota, Renault, etc) then the sport will loose most of its charm. F1, to me, is a battling ground between the world's greatest car manufacturers. The idea of obscure teams, with nothing I have to relate to in terms of vehicles that I, my friends and family own, just doesn't sit well with me. They don't make cars or products that I buy and are just a name out there. I guess it's just a personal issue for me.
While I don't mind the participation from these other teams, eg: Prodrive, Lola, Force India, Williams ... I really could care less if they are or aren't competing in the sport. I would like to see more car manufacturers back in the sport, even if they team up with teams like Williams, Force India, Red Bull or the Prodrives of the world.
I wish Honda would come back and become Brawn-Honda, or eg: Ford made an alliance with Williams (Williams-Ford), or Prodrive made an alliance with Subaru (Prodrive-Subaru), or Force India made and alliance with Tata (Force India Tata), or USF1GP made an alliance with Cosworth and GM (USF1-Cosworth-GM) ... some sort of manufacturer backing behind each team, even if it is partial ... That is something I can relate to and how cool would that be?
Alas I realize that it is all wishful thinking ... and a lot of manufacturers are in no shape to provide any support.

Interesting Kimi Raikkonen interviews:
Media: Do you have any special rituals when the helmet is concerned like many have?
Kimi-I wipe it so that I can see better.

Not that all the F1 technology is directly passed down to road cars; it's still a nice idea that the things learned/developed in motorsports end up in your daily-driver. Lola, F.I., Williams, Redbull just mean nothing to me in that regard.
I'm pumped about new teams and a full grid - but I don't wanna see Ferrari, BMW, McLaren, and Toyota go. And it'd be great to see Honda back in it (maybe team up with Super Aguri again).

I really like some of the issues that Andrew Davies brings up.
Particularly KERS, with it being almost a complete failure this year. It just doesn't have a place in F1 yet from a safety, reliability or performance point of view.
I'm a bit disappointed that FOTA decided to sign up for next season.
Heikki fastest in 2nd free practice today. I know how excited some of you are by that...lol...
Can't really read into the friday times too much, not with teams trying new equip and all. Tomorrow should be interesting though... can't wait.

Another boring race in Turkey... I'm almost glad that this will most likely be the last time they go there... Hate to see Button win again and Vettel's stragedy screwed him. Kimi you **** me off, how you gonna let Nico by...? Ferrari just looked lost...
Here's to hoping the show at Silverstone is a whole lot better! *crosses fingers*

^ so boring i forgot i was watching it about halfway through
on the faster courses this year it seems as if the field sorts itself out by the 10th lap, from there out there is no passing, and the field just stretches out further and further. they need to add a handicap like in mario kart. when you get further behind your car goes faster so you can catch back up to the front
