Anyone ever take their STU evo to a drag strip and trap higher than 110? I hate to say it, but a drag strip trap speed, for me, tells the truth (Not for evo vs. 350Z, just evo vs. another evo).

1. 280 HP Mustang
2. 250 HP Dyno dynamics
3. 310 HP Dynojet

All three are probably trapping 108 mph at the drag strip with the same et.

For another data point, my evo made 290 HP 265 Ft-Lbs on Buschurs mustang dyno with a buschur tune. I've been re-tuned since then though.

By the way, has anyone tried using Tephra V7 for tuning an STU evo?

Luckily, this is not drag racing. Power has less to do with a winning formula than you think.

Yeah, but the reason behind the STU regulations may lay on the assumption that the Evos and STIs make way more power than they really do.
We don’t want more power, we want wider tires…

Hah, I think he's on here somewhere . Don't get to swayed by the sandbagging, but now the ***** back in his court.

I had a good run on right with a couple tenths to go but left I keep getting over cooked in a real tight spot after a fast sweeper. A good run would be worth another 1/2 sec.

haha yeah I probably could have gotten something out of them... oh well. It was fun nonetheless.

It was kind of funny how it worked out for ASP though... the guy that really wanted me to fill the class (Ryan) ended up getting 3rd, so he didn't get his contingency... and the guy that got second didn't even sign up for contingency so no one got it. I felt kinda bad for Ryan though... would have made a pretty cool bday present if he got a top 2 spot.

my car is officially out of STU spec now... so unfortunately I won't have the pleasure of racing with you guys next time either... unless I find someone to co-drive with.

Not debating how much power means in a winning formula for autocross. I was only trying to describe my experience to help the argument for more tire in stu.

On another note great job Dallas!

If I have a RS front Diff and the plates re stacked in the rear diff, will I still need stiffer rear springs? Like 8K/10K? Or will I be able to get enough rotation with the rear diff "mod"?

I'm about to order a set of FA 500s with swift springs. The car will be on 245 ZIIs. Power wise it will have some bolt ons and a tune. I'm not planning on changing sway bars or stripping any weight.

A more aggressive rear differential doesn't substitute for stiffer suspension. You'll still want to prepare your suspension appropriately.

8K front and 10K rear is a nice comfortable street setup, given quality dampers. If you're looking to be competitive at a higher level you'll almost certainly want stiffer springs, though.

Changing the rear sway bar is quite easy. It's worth exploring some of the adjustable rear sway bar options.
