Öhlins THAT much better?
Unless you, too, have your own truck full of techs to follow you around and take care of your suspension.
I'm just making a reference to the service they support for the sport. Look I'm not advocating for FA, all I'm saying is for a privateer racing in time attack, FA provides us with a great product and amazing service. When you call...someone picks up the phone. The staff is knowledgable and happy to help. A rebuild service doesn't take a crazy amount of time.
But the fact that they are a sponsor and sell a product and offer services that work well sould mean something
Not to mention they offer contingency credit for those who run GTA. The Unlimited Evo I was talking about previously went over 2 seconds faster at GTA Road Atlanta 2014 than it did at the 2013 Road Atlanta event after switching to Fortune Auto's product. They even had their truck out there with their techs perfecting the car so the most could be made out of it.
I have had both KW V3 and the Ohlins Road and Track.
The build quality on the Ohlins is a very clear step above as is the street ride compliance.
The KW's are a bit noisier during normal driving and when you hit a BIG bump the car feels like it is going to shoot a strut through the tower. The Ohlins do a much better job of absorbing large imperfections like mentioned above and also have no 'coilover noise' like you see with a lot of other companies.
The Ohlins to me are the best balance between a street and race setup - they perform very well at the track and (to me) feel close to stock ride comfort (when I'm not running 30 profile R-comps around town).
I've ridden in evo's with Fortune, KW, Buddy Club, BC, etc - Ohlins are my fav, worth the money if you can swing it.
As for a 7k coilover - I won't make any comment as I have no need for such a setup.

I just CAN'T bring myself to spend $3000 on a set just to try out. I don't have the money to throw around like that. Our shop is very humble.
I understand completely buddy. You could always start off with a set of 510's and then add the external reservoir later on to make them 2 way adjustable

Like I said previously I am not advocating for FA, I'm just around them quite a bit so I see them in action first hand. Don't get me wrong I would love to own a set of Ohlins, but I just can't fit them into my budget. The initial purchase price plus the cost of revalving and the cost of new springs is out of my budget. So for roughly half the money I get a coilover that works well and is built and valved right the first time. Even if I did have the $3000 budget to get Ohlins I still probably wouldn't due to the fast that my car is driven 80% at the track 20% on the street (even on the street I ride the stiffest setting). So why would I spend $3000 on a single adjustable Ohlins R&T coilover when I could get a two way adjustable coilover for the same amount of money. But that's just me. Maybe someday when I have money pouring out of my ears I'll try to find a set of Ohlins Flags, or pick up some JRZ's. But until then I'll stick with what I can afford and what keeps me on the track.

I wouldn't put DSVs on a track car either. Nope.
Maybe one day I'll sell a kidney and pick up these

Number of adjustments != quality damper.
Id rather have no adjustment and good valving than 100 way adjustment that does the wrong thing. And not all adjusters do what you thinks.
Support and Knowledge is king and Ohlin can be revalved by several quality builders.
