Öhlins THAT much better?
They are super easy to assemble.... 15 minutes tops. I purchased mine in May of 2013 for $3000 shipped. I like to support local shops so I got pinched for tax but that's the way to goes. You got a very good deal.

I just did suspension set up after looking over all options. RobiSpec Race Dampers are what I went with. Ohlins sold out and a few other options have come to market around the $3500 price.

I'm not looking for a street coilover, just saying I daily my "track" car so I don't want to shake teeth loose. I can deal with a firm ride..to a point.
I have been looking at used coilovers and agree: after a rebuild it would be as much or more than new. in fact there is one ad where a used set of KW is as much as the Ohlins are going for new. nuts. as such, I have stopped browsing our classifieds and started shopping new. unless I find a steal of a deal.

I've been watching for a used set to surface on and off for quite a while now. It's rare that they come up for sale, and when they do they tend to go fast.
I finally just ordered a new set from Performance Shock. They're backordered quite a bit, but hopefully I'll have them in my hands around late April. Performance Shock has been great so far, so I'd recommend them if anyone is interested.

Ohlins do surface on here from time to time but you do need to be very patient yet quick on your feel when they pop up.
I purchased a set on here about 6 months ago for a great price given that they were basically brand new. I messaged the seller literally a couple hours after he posted them and he told me that someone else was interested but was trying to haggle on price. I really wanted them so I offered $100 over his asking price and made it happen.
I only auto-x and got them so late in the season that I only made it to 2 events with the new setup but they felt really good. The ride comfort is fantastic as well. For this year I picked up a pair of Hypercoil 650#(~11.7k) springs that I will put on the rear and put the 10k back on the front.
While the car felt good with the 8K/10K setup I wanted more spring in the front as the car seemed to have too much brake dive. As such I wanted more stiffness in the front but did not want to ruin the balance so the decision was made to up the rates and put the 10k's back on the front.
I have no doubts that even with the higher rates the coils will still ride fantastic on the street. I've been dinking around on the stock struts for the winter but I plan to put the Ohlins back on in a couple of weeks and I could not be more excited.
Moral of the story- Buy Ohins, be happy

i literally check every three days, or so, for a used set. my problem is, i can't keep that much cash in the bank because i think, "oh.. i need a Kiggly" or "oh, it's time to flush my fluids again". i nickel and dime myself down so that even if i find a set, i wont' be able to get them haha.
my best bet is to just stay diciplined and save up the $2,550 for new. that's not THAT bad compared to other coilovers. i was going to go KW, but why when i can now get Ohlins R&T for the same price??

the ones in the classified section? if so, i saw those too and just made a post on the thread LOL. cheaper than a new set of V3s. not bad.
If there was another set of coil overs that were within $1000 of the Ohlins price I would probably sell mine and upgrade. But as of yet I can't find anything that rides as nice and has a reasonable price tag.
I did keep all my boxes and stuff for resale so find me something to upgrade to!
