I really don't think highway miles matter much. Track miles tend to work them especially if you are clobbering corner curbs and such.

my back says differently. LOL. everyone says how nice the Ohlins R&Ts are on the street. that's enough to get me to choose them. i'm not so sure myself, my son, or my GF would like driving around all day/night with Clubsports. are hear they are pretty harsh around town (coming from KW management).

I bought my car and it had the HKS hypermax on them.....It rode really harsh. Granted I didn't do any tinkering with adjustments. I bought Ohlins DFVs and wow, what a difference. You can feel a huge diveability difference.
The one downfall I learned years ago is that an off the shelf shock is good within a certain range which will all vary dependant on spring rate. This is where I am at right now. My car is going to CBRD and they are going to set up the whole suspension. I was going to have them rebuild/ revalve/ respring the DFVs but at that price it might be worth it to pick up the Works/ Ohlins stage IV and sell my DFVs. It depends if Works will put on a different spring package and valve them, with higher level dampeners they usually include this when you purchase the shocks.
The wearing of the shocks really depends on the heat that has been generated within the shocks. The extreme heat breaks down the fluid and when that happens the characteristics of the damper completely change. Street driving really doesn't generate that much heat in the fluid, but track driving is a different story. It is a good idea to change the fluids regularly. It is like your engine oil. Parts wear and if you don't change the fluid the particules from the wear items within the shocks will go throught the assembly and cause damage.

I just think why spend $1k to rebuild/ revalve/ respring when I could upgrade and maybe even have the revalving and right springs on it for the price of the shocks. I don't drive much on the street and I am looking to setup the car more for the track.

Anyone looking for an almost brand new set of DFVs contact me. They have maybe a few thousand miles on them and look new. One of the rears is missing an adjuster from the top but they are like $30 from Ohlins.

Ohlins won't ever stop servicing there shocks.

i'm still running the KW V3. i'm disappointed in lack of support. nobody, and i mean NOBODY revalves them any more, even KW. as such, i will be selling them and going with another brand. hopefully still the Ohlins. i'll be shopping over the winter break.

The reason I love Fortune Auto is because of the support. I love the fact that they road race two different Evo's in two different classes with Global Time Attack. As a matter of fact they are the main GTA suspension sponsor. I love the fact that I can get them built right the first time and not have to have them re-valved or have the spring rates reversed because most companies ship them with a higher front rate. The support is amazing as they're here in the states not to mention Terry is a stand up guy and he knows his s**t. The best part about them is the fact that you can upgrade to a 2-way or 3-way adjustable setup down the road. Thr pricing isn't crazy high either.

that's something to consider. i just don't have much experience with them nor no anyone who has used them competitively. i'll keep an eye out, though. i'm always up for more options. i only shy away from 'newer' companies because it's such an important component and quite an investment. i tend to stay with proven companies that have been around for a decent amount of time.
if only i could try before i buy LOL

Sounds like a very personal opinion of yours as well

Have you ever run a set of custom valved & springed set of FA510's? You might be pleasantly surprised
