How sure are you about that? Out of the 12 Evo 8's I've worked on that had their factory pans on them not one had a skid plate on the bottom of the pan. You must have seen late model 8's right before the 9's. I have an 8 in my garage right now that didn't have a skid plate on it's oil pan that was leaking. I put the one from my ix MR that I parted out on it, and this one has the plate.

My early 2005 has one. And two 2003's and a 2004 I've worked had the skid. At this point with how old they are they could have been changed at some point . I know my pan is original though.

Extreme PSI shows one without a skid as fitting either car, and the drain faces straight back. My pan has a skid, and the drain points kind of towards the oil fiilter...

I use gray right stuff. It's designed for the same applications as Honda bond is (high torque, zero-tolerance sealant), but it's less runny. It also sticks like glue once dry, extremely hard to get stuff of. I've never had it leak...

My 05 has one as well so I can confirm. I am an original owner as well. TBH once the cars switched hands and folks put them back to stock with different parts you get cars out there with pieces from various years.

Bump for install pics and test results. I'm sure we starve the motor of overheated oil so this is really interesting to me. Would the pan be the best spot to install an oil temp sensor vs the filter housing?

there's been a lot of discussion regarding this. from what i can tell, there's not really enough of a difference to matter. oil temps in either should be relatively close.
i've been trying to figure out if using either port on the filter housing matters. i'd like to know the temp coming out of the oil cooler. i could only fit the sensor in one place on my housing.. not sure where it is in the oil loop, though LOL.

At the end of the day you want to know pan temp, that's what the bearings see and what really matters.
