I've never been able to "see" any channels on the OBD port by just plugging things in and listening. I've always assumed because these technologies don't speak MUT. So I've simply tapped the RPM and Throttle wires at the ECU itself. Old school 2003 zeitronix method. Since that worked I didn't really put much time into it.
