I'm working to get the website finished this week, so you can order online.
Otherwise if you'd like to send me a PM, I can send you through a paypal money request.

I've used the Evo 9 OEM oil pan as the basis for the kit, as it's the only pan available for purchase from Mitsubishi.
If you're running an early model Evo 8, I think the turbo oil drain wont work. There was a crossover period, but i'm not 100% sure of the year.

Please see in the pic, we need to use the turbo drain which has the offset bolt holes.
If anyone has the bolt holes which are parallel with the pan mounting surface, you'll need to purchase a later model turbo drain (1225A001). I've got 10x in stock for those that need it. Not so bad for the USA market, but in the UK, NZ and Australia, we have lots of Evo 4-8's which will need to be changed.

Is the difference just that there is a twist to the orientation? I have an AN adapter screwed to my pan for a braided drain line. [full disclosure: I haven't ordered one of these yet, but watching results closely]

Yup it's just the twist. Your adapter will work.
From what I can see (speculation), the earlier model pan had problems with the threads stripping during assembly.
They couldn't make the internal thread any longer as it would interfere with the crank girdle.
So they changed the position of the bolts, allowing a taller nut to be welded onto the inside of the pan.
This means more thread, and less chance of Fat Fingers Freddy stripping the thread.

I can't wait to see customer results also. There is no way I could bring this to market without doing a true comparison on my own car, which is where the datalogs came from.

Here is a typical scatter graph from driving on the road.
It shows higher oil pressure when the car is cold (blue dots) then normal oil pressure once it's warm (orange dots).
This sensor is located in the mains gallery. The oil filter housing oil pressure is around 10psi more than this.
Typically OEM oil pressure at the oil filter housing is around 90-100psi max depending on the oil grade (assuming at operating temps).

The extra dots under the main line is when Mivec (VVT) activates and/or moves. This causes a small dip in oil pressure.

Good Day,

Extremely excited to see a new kid on the block. I definitely plan on purchasing one of these as soon as I'm more financially stable (my car is so needy).

I saw the question posted in the earlier part of the thread, but didn't see an answer. 1. What is the oil capacity of this beauty, and additionally; 2. Might you have a recommendation as to what viscosity oil should be used with your oil pan?

Thanks in advance, wonderful design and appreciate the R&D that was put into these pans once again.

Gidday!

Oil capacity is 1.5L over OEM. I used water to measure the capacity and then measured the weight difference.

Oil viscosity is an interesting one. OEM Evo 9 is 5W30 recommended from the factory. The mains and big end bearings are pretty tight.
Most aftermarket setups use 0.002" to around 0.0025" clearance. It really comes down to the recommendation of the engine builder.
My personal bearing clearances are a little on the loose side, and i'm running 5W40 oil with zero problems.
I think with the pressure adjustment, you dont NEED to run a thick oil any more. Just run whatever viscosity you want and adjust to suit.
Also bearing in mind - that temperature will shift the pressure generated. 90psi @ 80ºC oil temp will normally go to 75psi @ 120ºC oil temp.
This is completely normal as oil gets thinner with more temperature. So if you're running high temps all the time at the track (lets say your system stabilises at 130ºC), then just adjust your pressure to suit for those worst conditions.
Personally - I think 70psi at the mains gallery is more than enough @ 8000rpm. This is around 82-85psi at the oil filter housing.

For my regulator testing, I tried a bunch of oils. Lightest was 5W30 and heaviest was 20W60.
Just adjust as required and you're good to go.
Mindful that Evo 9 with the Mivec gear doesn't like oil that's too heavy. 30W or 40W is best (IMO).
Also would a thinner oil drain out of the head better (and back to the pan)??

Another thing to note - that not all oils of the same grade/weight are actually the same thickness.
I've seen this across a range of brands of oils. Motul, Castrol, Valvoline, Penrite etc. They are all slightly different than what's on the label.

Especially if you're living in an area that doesn't experience winter, that "W" doesn't matter at all lol.

Oil pressure scatter graph from a trackday over the weekend.
Testing with the new catch can setup with a 12AN (1/2NPT) vent off the block.
This appears to have actually made the oil pressure scatter better (less surge), i'm guessing because there is less oil in the head and the catch can.

I think i saw you mention it somewhere but cant find it, Where did you put the block vent? did you custom fab something in or did u use an existing hole? and did you just run this up to pick up with the existing lines coming off the rocker covers?

12AN fitting on the front of the block, under #1 cylinder.
Drilled and tapped in place with the oil pan off. Wasn't as scary as I thought it would be.
When I pull the engine down again, i'll enlarge the balance shaft inspection hole from M10 to something bigger.
Then use a Banjo bolt and fitting to keep it close to the block. I think you could fit a 8AN line in here without too much drama.

Hey Mike would you be willing to sell just the regulator and fitting for the OFH? I'd love to be able to have an adjustable regulator for the custom pan I'm doing for my car.

Oh yea thats a good spot for it. Are you finding much oil tracking up the line?
