Pointless NTEC chat thread
Jake does MSR, I dont know details so I'll let him post that if hes interested.
But just to keep it fair... Since his is an EVO X; the race would have to be an EVO X you personally built, well your shop
It would need to be driven be the owner. So no pitch hitter from some professionally licensed NASCAR driver or the like.

Lastly show dyno charts for the car. Thats something COBB has done on everycar good, bad or indifferent is post dyno charts. Many of us are still holding our breaths from that car you did in OCT I think that you claimed made 600 plus HP.
My plans for it stay the same as they've always been, hpde and next year I'm going to do one lap. Can't make this year b/c of a wedding :-(
Forget the race, let's just get another dyno day together so we can all drink together whilst showing off numbers on the same dyno. I'm sure there's better drivers than me, and I really doubt I could jump into the car now and be quick, it'll be plus a few hundred hp from last time...
I do know on cobb's dyno we're going to be in the 700's (ets made 750 with my exact kit on their car during testing). We might do one lol run at 40 whatever psi to try and crack 800, but I'm not sure if I'll allow it yet
And really, I'm not after any HP records here, only at cobb.
This STI currently holds their non-gtr dyno record. I plan to take it from him. I think the gtr record is low 700s, so might take the overall as well.

The cobb website is down for me for some reason right now but I believe the STI holds the record on the HP including the GTR's. Highest gtr is mid 600s for cobb plano at least. I might be wrong though. I know the STI has like 4 more HP than the GTR that is pure sex.
dales evo 9 makes 725whp, 550ftlb on a 2.0 (original a buschur motor, but it spun a bearing a couple years ago and i rebuilt it into a 2.0 again) with a 6765 on steves dyno. its been up and running again for a while now, currently sporting the low boost tune at 33psi sporting 630whp. it made the 700+ at 38psi. there are maybe 5-10 other cars i've built/tuned in DFW sporting over 600whp and another 10-20 cars from surrounding areas (OK,houston, austin, LA) we havent built any evo X's with even your old numbers yet because they are simply to expensive to modify still, and even making that much power they arent that fast drag racing (as noted by the disappointing drag numbers the X's have produced). which is what 90% of the people building that high a hp car do.
i'm sure justin would like to race his X around MSR once its complete (very close), and im sure josh would be happy to run in his X (stock motor, stock turbo). josh is down about 300whp from you but power is about 25% of what makes a fast lap time. we should make the don herring track day double into a friendly NTEC time trial event!!! that will give you some time to work out any bugs, my evo 8 will be done and ready to smash everything, and we can have a dyno day somewhere leading up to the event.

Kevin, sounds like a good time. I was unaware of the 6765 car, it would probably be close. From all I've seen, the 6266 flows almost identical to the old 6765. Not that it really matters at all lol
The gtr in question isn't in the database. It wasn't a tune they did, I think it was actually a jotech car that the owner wanted a second dyno to confirm numbers.

i've heard the same, and have some 6266 cars coming soon to see. but it does make a difference, the 6765 is hella laggy. full boost at like 6300rpm :O the 6262 (and 6266) are about 1000-1300rpm faster. IMO the 6262 (and 6266) are better to drive... maybe not as much top end, but the lag is severe on the 6765.
There goes nothing... Autotrader should have the evo up within 24-48 hours. In contact with a dealer in New Port for a '12 used gtr.

dynoed another evo yesterday
since we want to make this a friendly dyno competition, bring it to steves dyno when its ready, if it makes more then 650 i'll pay for the dyno time. if it beats the evo HP record on steves dyno i'll throw in another 100.
for reference, we have 9 cars here that have already, or will make more then 600whp on steves when they are done.

Please don't tell me we are back to this Cobbs dyno reads high thing.....I already disproved this by doing back to back dyno runs and the varience was 2.3%. On my dime no less.

Once again... where are the charts? Its not hard to print a chart and scan it and post it.
I'm about to have KevinD do my SD tune. I'm going to talk to Cobb and make sure that I can roll off of Kahn's dyno, drive to Cobb, and see what it puts down. We'll turn up the wick and see how it goes. I will post up BOTH charts.

Why does it always have to be that DYNO? Why not bring any car you have done over to Cobb?

here are a few charts for your viewing pleasure 734whp, 543ftlb:
wiesmanns car last year (3794HTA built 2.0, e85, 42psi):

i tuned it again last night with some different cams and a different fuel system. i'll post those results up in a couple weeks when he gives me the ok

lances evo 9, 2.3L stroker, 6262, E85, 33-34psi (654/542):

austins 2.4L evo 8, 6262FF, E85, 35psi (642/535)... tuned it last week:

JJs evo 8, built 2.0L FF3586, E85, 36psi (619/498)... tuned it last week as well, ran a 9.97 @ 146mph sunday:

i've got a dozen more too
Awesome charts. I don't want to get involved in the pissing matches at all. Records are pointless, when I said that I was unaware of anything over 650. Having a 735 #, I doubt I'd go past that even if I could just for the worry of breaking anything else. I'd be game with doing a dyno at Kan's, or if Andrew settles this before then, whatever.
I'd be happy to beat the sti. Don't know why, but I can't allow a boxer engine to make more than me ;-)
