local Pittsburgh Meet
C'mon guys, I know I drove half-way back to Pittsburgh from BeaveRun with a transponder in my car and no license, but a toolbag?....thats a bit harsh
.
Trav, just want to tell you that those agency power brake lines seemed to work pretty well. With those, Motul 600 fluid, and stock front pads and rotors, I only got brake fade on only my last lap in the first heat (I blame braking too early). Pedal modulation was pretty consistent all day. Colin (who ran faster than me
) was still on completely stock brakes and only got to do two laps of four in the first heat before he had to pit due to very mushy brakes...so it had to have made a difference. The install was pretty simple too (well, thanks to Dan, haha
). Only one of the lines didnt fit properly, but Dan just zip-tied it down and its held up just fine. It was a good purchase
.

.... I will have to pick a set of these up when i do my brakes (40k currently), probably do them over the winter (fall auto-x will probably end them). Well that is after I get the new bushings put in my car and tell everyone about it (har har har).
you guys all need to have sex with a girl (or guy based on sexual preferance
) or rub one off
...too much testosterone in this forum....so just chill out...each person is entitled to an opinion and thats what makes the world go round

All i know is ever since I started this build half of the evo owners started to be total *** hats. I don't brag about what I am doing, I don't shove it in anyones face. I get **** talked on me at meets because I am doing something with my car
. If trying to be different is a crime, you guys made it a hate crime. But, on the upside I really don't care. You guys who do seem to hate don't really offend me. I would be a little jealous too, but i would not show it by being a d1ck to the person doing the build. Thats the reason meets are so split up now. Half the people there only talk to certain people. (oh and gofd forbid i missed a couple recent meets. And yes my car has been down for a year, but knowing I have to work very hard for every part, it takes a little more time to build it then you might expect. ) And at the meetI know i only pin pointed about 4 or so people that I had something to say to, and we conversed for a while. (you know who you were) Other people including you trav, you can approach me and ask questions, or chit chat and it really don't mean I want to talk to you, it's called being civil. There is a division on this forum. How did so many geeks get their hands on an evo? I just look it as most are using it as an ego booster more than anything. All I ever hear about on this Pittsburgh thread is "I got new bushings" "I got new gear fluid and OMG ITS AMAZING!" Why talk about basic regular maintenance on here. Here is an idea, scribble it in a book put it in your glove box, or better yet, put a little sticker in the top left side of your windshield. Now that dan is doing a build I see the same **** rubbing off on him. And denny gets comments every week about building his car in such a timely fashion... He might take it as a joke from some, but it irritates me none the least. so what, he has a real job and makes money. Or is it because he is building HP?
I love being the outcast. Gives me more incentive to strive one step past you.

I don't think I will be doing them on the IX just yet for that reason. Though I don't have to worry about the abs this time.....
I dunno, I really didn't notice that big of a difference in pedal firmness with daily driving. I guess it might be a little firmer, but nothing out of the ordinary. I just think it is a really good idea for tracking and thats why I got them.
I had them on my crx and my pedal was a lot stiffer after I installed them but the stock lines were also 11 years old at the time
you could have always pulled the fuse for the abs if you didnt like it or w/e, right
in addition to this....not everyone has the same idea of what they want thier car to do. Some may want to spend tons of money on a build, some of us may be happy with adding some basic stuff to extract a little bit more of its capabilities. Either way its a ll a matter of personal preference.
on the dyno argument, from an engineering standpoint, there a ton of factors that will make the numbers differ from one manufacturer to another. This applies to any kind of measurement of a parameter. I see this very often in daiily work experience with measurement of variables in water. Customers may say well we have a your unit and a competitors unit and you unit and they are reading 5% reading the same sample.
First factor: every type of equipment has a accuracy rating( for example it may be +/- 5%) so if you are talking a vehicle at 400hp(just to use a round number) you are talking a 20hp swing in either direction.
another factor: maintenance and calibration: Any measurement is going to be based off of a known value, so calibration can make a huge diference.Although I have no idea what the maintenance and calibration intervals on this type of equipment is, I would be willng to bet that the numbers would be different on the same vehicle between day one after calibration and six months later if the unit is used often, especially after years of operation on the same unit.
so if you look at technology A VS technolgy B it is unfair to say which is better or closer without testing side by side with newly calibrated equipment. So comparing the dyno at buscher to the dyno elsewhere is not really valid, without knowing many other factors. These are just a couple to ponder as examples...
Besides does it really matter? We are all here for the same reason..
In an effort to get this thread back to another one of it's goals... showing pictures of cars and the **** we are doing to them. Here is what the Evo fairy/ FedEx guy brought to my house today. All the stuff should be in by Monday and tuned next Thursday. *not pictured: AMS FMIC*

And again as an effort to get this thread back to original purpose... I am anxious to get my car to PRP once I have it completely finished. My vote is Wednesday July 9.

So much hostility over nothing.
