Looks like Mitsu is offering 0% financing on the EVO X now.

That's certainly a nice incentive to trade up.

I would say you got lucky......Well least you knew what happened right away and didn't try starting the car or driving it - that could have caused worse damage. Plus good to see a company like cosworth standing behind there products.

If nobody hasn't I would get a thread going immediately about the cams, so maybe people that bought them after a certain date will know and maybe get the problem fixed prior to it happening. You would think cosworth would release some kind of bulletin stating for people to return cams purchased from that batch.....that is a pretty serious issue, cams snapping is no joke

Great! Thanks guys, now I'm paranoid about my cams. Think I'll write Cosworth a e-mail and see if I can get a indication of when the bad batch was made and see if mine could be effected!

I can't believe how bad sales are on the X!! I think Sendel in Gbg might have finally sold one of the 3 that have been sitting for a while. They have had a black MR that they want 44K for. Beautiful car minus the rusty rotors but IMO they are way too expensive.

If they made an X RS I would probably consider it. But 44k? There are real cars available for that.

I wouldn't worry too much Mike. I just looked up Cosworth and used this...

http://www.cosworth.com/contactus.php

Called them. The guy picked up right away - super nice guy. Said no "bad batch" was in existance. Did give some other info on how they have been broken, but suffice to say it's not due to a bad batch.

I think after all this time you're fine.

This thread gets better everyday!

As for the sales of the X - If only my VIII would have lasted another few months before all the issues... 0 % financing is a great deal. I really can't complain though. On the VIII I was dishing out $600 here, $1800 there, all to no avail. On a street driven and never tracked VIII. Just my luck.

i shudder to think of the damage trying to crank and engine with a busted cam would cause.

all those metal shavings and chucks whipping around the head? it would be like a cluster bomb in your valvetrain.

0% is a very tempting offer. that's what initially got me in to my first evo.

after seeing the new cobalt SS beat the X around the track though, i don't know how i feel about picking one up, even with great interest.

There's no way it beat the X around the track. I simply do not buy that. And the X wasn't too far behind the IX on the track either and I for sure don't buy a Cobalt beating a IX or even hanging with a IX on a track.

Actually guys, Cosworth cams did have a problem. There was an issue with the dowel pins. This may be what Eric is talking about. Give him a break. **** happens.

The dowel pin issue was with it fitting into place when installing.

Cobalt SS is fast believe it or not, but what hurts the X is power to weight ratio.
If you increase that it would be alot better car.
