so i washed my car today... but i added a few scratches while trying to get the winter grime off

i had all these little black spots that needed some elbow grease to come off. im thinking a couple of them got caught in the mitt and then scratched my clearcoat. i tried to avoid this but obviously failed at least a few times. i think they should mostly buff out. i think im gunna try some rubbing compound by hand first. if that doesn't totally fix it, i think a machine will get them almost totally out. i really needed to buff my whole car, i have streaks like crazy in my clearcoat. is it just me or does the evo have SUPER easy to scratch clear? my celica never scratched this easily...

im pretty mad at myself tho. i should have taken more time cleaning her and been more careful

I used to do it by hand, and still do if its in a small or odd spot. But I use a 90* angle grinder that I have a small buffing wheel attachment for and just turn the air pressure down on the compressor and use that. Takes everything out in literally seconds. But like you said using a terry cloth and light presure does the trick too does the trick, just a lot of elbow grease. Just FYI also, use the rubbing compound on your head/tail lights if they have rock pits and scratches too. It takes everything out and makes them look brand new. I do it every 6 months or so and it keeps them looking like the day it rolled off the show room floor!
