Just be REALLY REALLY careful with that buffer. It has a decently high RPM and can really do some damage.

well im not going to do anything at first without some guidance from my buddy with the M5. i trust the guy. he has been detailing for a long time and his M5 (which is black i.e. the hardest color to buff) is in super sick condition.

according to him the random orbits aren't all that dangerous as they don't generate much heat. its the traditional rotational buffers that can do the real damage (burning paint). on the flip side, if you know what your doing, the rotational buffers are faster and more capable.

also im not a complete newb to detail/bodywork. i worked at a volvo bodyshop for a few summers. i just didnt get enough buffing time in there to trust myself buffing without some guidance. but i do believe that my buddy is right and that the random orbit buffers are safer. im not saying you cant burn paint with them... just saying its harder.

so electronics components are pretty expensive...

i was checking out these alpha numeric 14 segment LEDs, about .4" tall
they are only $1.40 for green and $9 a piece for blue ones!!!

not only that, but it looks like they can only be reflow soldered, because 6 of the pads are underneath the package...

i'm going to try and reflow them with one of these
