Philadelphia Car Meets
i have a lot of options. i just don't know what to do. those suggestions are good. so would a resonated test pipe make it louder (right?). i don't want to be really f'in loud but i want it to sound like an evo and not a honda accord....or continue to check the tach to see if it is running. so short DP and separate o2 and wideband is the way i may go. dual exit is a must for the X. it looks messed up with the single exit and the stock diffuser....plus it sounds cool too.
i think i'd like to start with loud and go quieter down the line. rather than buy a bunch of resonators that i may not care for. somehow i don't think i'd ever be heavily motivated to spend the money to quiet it down though.
would i have to buy a separate o2 housing if i go with the short DP?
and should i have the wideband bung in the DP or whatever i choose to replace the cat with? i am getting it for tuning purposes mainly.
man, this is new territory for me. turboback that is.
what about passing emissions?

Yes, you will need to get an o2 housing separately if you decide on the short dp. I seriouly think its the better option. Your idea of going louder first is agreeable. I'd be doign the same. As for the o2 bung, you can always pick on up later and get it welded on, leavign you the option of placement of the bung.
where would the ideal place to have the wideband bung for tuning purposes? (or was your answer above that there really is no specific place for it). i would like to put the exhaust on and get it tuned relatively quickly after. i just want to make things easy.
It only makes a difference if you ran a cat or not. With a cat, the wideband bung must be before the cat. If you run cat delete, it really doesn't matter, but you still want it closer to the front, ideally, I would suggest on the dp or test pipe, at an angle thats easy to reach when working on the car.
Mine is at 9:45 3" from the cat.....for tuning purposes only. Its just got a plug in it now
Emissions........cant tell ya much. I hope I pass with my HFC, but who knows.
I would imagine you could just bolt the stock cat back in once a year, but I never really looked under a X

would you have to do that much to pass. is it still obdII check for codes with aftermarket exhaust?
i can't imagine you guys go through all that trouble each year
thanks for all the help everyone

Dan,
If I were you I would get a short downpipe, MIL Spec 100cell highflow cat and a catback of your choice. What you will need to do is also run an anti-fouler on top of your o2 sensor. This will make sure your light doesn't come on... No, none of us worry about emissions because our SEL light isn't on. Thats all the system looks for when they hook your car up to the OBD reader. If you have a hi-flow then you'll pass the visual inspection as well.
Thats strickly my opinion, what you decide to do is soley up to you... GL.

Anyone going to JSCspeed's monthly meet tomorrow night?
Their website is here if you never heard of them: http://www.jscspeed.com/
Looking on tristatetuners.com its a pretty good turnout every month plus the weather is supposed to be beautiful tomorrow. I hope to see some other evo owners out there. I don't wanna park alone again like last Thursdays meet.

i didnt know about the monthly jscspeed meet. what time is it happening at? i get back from work at 530 may be able to get there by 6. needed to head up there tom. with my buddy anyway, worth it to head out? its a 7, if i go we can meet up somewhere or just at jsc..
Did you give consideration on anything else or just something about that brand that you like?
My ignorant advice is free it up, no cat no resonator and let her breath!! Besides, then you can actively lose hearing while you drive
Pretty much what I do every dayAnyone going to JSCspeed's monthly meet tomorrow night?
