Well like i posted earlier i was going to head to Atco tonight but as luck would have it my night didn't go as planned.
Went to a friends house i recently met with a nicely modified srt-4. My buddies GTI doesn't have back seats so i couldn't ride with him but no big deal I'll ride in the srt-4. I like them better and the car has a better chance of not breaking down to and from the track unlike the VW.
We leave late to the track (left around 5) by ourselves and with it being a humid night we didn't expect much but since we had a group of 7-8 cars going it would be fun. We get 5 min from the track and the gas light pops on, again no big deal he planned on running race gas with it so its at a perfect level. We run into wawa and when we came back out the car it wouldn't start.
We borrowed some gas from the landscapers next door figuring it will get us to the track but that didn't fix it. Could not get the thing started so we pushed the car behind the wawa for further troubleshooting. We played with it the next few hours with end result of still having no fuel pressure. We had 1 old t shirt as a rag and a handful of tools which really didn't help the situation. At this point we had the fuel pump assembly out of the car and figured out that an O-ring is missing and it could be the problem. We now have the whole tank dropped and emptied in a bucket we found in the garbage at wawa searching for the missing O-ring and any other kind of issue since we couldn't figure this out.
The kid's dad ended up driving up with another walbro 255 pump + install kit. We reinstalled everything and after playing around with no fuel pressure for another 45min the car finally started. Drove the 5min to the track at 9:38 to find out that they shut it down early for whatever reason. We then proceeded to get gas and take a trip out to one of the local philly Thursday night meets. Had some fun
and then went home.
I got in around 1:30 smelling like gas and having black hands and knees. After getting a shower and something to eat I'm sitting here reflecting back on this hoping you guys have a good laugh at my expense because i know that i didn't wake up Thursday morning expecting to change a fuel tank on a srt-4 in a Wawa parking lot a handful of hours later.
Worst part about it is that my buddy in the GTI went to atco raced and drove home with no issues when i could have put money down that the srt-4 was the safer car to go there and back with.
Hopefully if we go back next Thursday we won't have no issues. Sorry for the long rant but i had to let it out somewhere lol

Jim, sucks its your TC and not something simple/inexpensive like an axle. At least the R&R isn't too hard. Just be careful with this new one, even if it has a quaife its still not industructable. Do you know why your last one broke? was it wheel hop or just letting the clutch out too fast? whatever the case just make sure you don't do it again
Chip that sucks. I've broken down at that wawa before and had to get towed so I kinda no what you went through.
HAPPY FRIDAY!! whats everyone doing this weekend?

Marc, I honestly think it was operator error. I staged after the other guy and didn't get settled in with the 2-step before that Pro Tree went GREEN. I didn't have time to react and dumped the clutch by accident.
Boostedtres, I didn't mean to leave you out with the care baskets...haha. I wasn't thinking about people that were out of commision. Only thinking broken cars....haha lol.

haha no worries jim i was just f-ing around. i havent driven the evo in 7 days now. im going through withdrawl. i still need to wash her, still has some left over tape for the autoX ages ago..haha.
im getting frustrated, the car is not moving, along with that i have daves nt01s just sitting there, and wont be able to get my new wheels at the earliest until the very end of oct. im buying stuff and cant use it. i dont no how you guys stock pile parts and then wait!
im tempted to take that deft cf hood from that kid, pick up the autopower race bar, an 02 dump and cams, might as well buy while i cant drive...dammit

Marc,
AMS is dropping the price on their sheet-metal endtank design for the 8/9s. This is the same one me and ben are running as Chu mentioned. Here's the link to the sale
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/au...sales-ams.html
On the other hand not sure what core they run on them, didn't really do any digging on the matter though.
Didn't know CBRD is selling a production run version as well, where's the info on that piece?

Chip, you weren't the only one who stayed up late last night then. We ran into some major timing issues last night doing my cam install. HKS decides to put multiple marks on their cams gears, and I pay for it by using the wrong one. Luckily, nothing broke, and we were able to get things sorted out. Ben and Petey's help were much appreciated...even got Ben's blood in my car! lol. My neighbors came to the rescue with the timing issue, and I finally get to sleep at 3am. I was serious thinking new drivetrain for a while there.
