Philadelphia Car Meets
I'm in south philly.. it's a blue 8 with some stock black enkeis. Yea most of the people heard it figured I have cams.... but we'll see once I take valve cover off lol. I'll try to get a video of how it sounds when I get a chance.
O ok i didn't realize you were a EB. i was wondering if you were one of the random evo's that i've been spotting around philly lately.
Well it's definately the Differential. I'm getting mixed answers though. JNZ says they called Quaife about a new LSD and they mention it being a Center diff according to them. I called Trevor at Sheptrans and they so NO, the LSD is definately the front Diff. I'll figure it out either way. I already told JNZ that I wanted to ship it out to Shep Trans. It's gonna cost some bucks though. Looking like $2800 plus 5hrs@ $85/hr so.....ouch

For those interested in cages, go to someone who has experience installing cages that pass tech. I don't think the autopower on will get you more than a pat on the back. The old rule was a 6pt for 11.5 and under, until you run 9.99, then you needed the 10pt cage. 6 pt is technically a "bar" and 10pt was the "cage".
Then again, I probably haven't been legal in 4 years, so I should probably check the NHRA rulebook on this sort of thing.

I think (I might be wrong) that it's now an 8 point for 11.99 to 9.99. Either way I was knocking on 11's 2 setups back. With this new turbo there's little doubt that I'll be over the limit unless I all of a sudden forget how to put together a fast car. Whats been everyone's experience at Atco? I've heard they're much more forgiving than Maple Grove.
Dan, I'm not going on Sunday. It looks like it's $50 just to watch. F that. I'm going to put my car back together instead so I can run the new turbo on that cruise.

Chu did you have to bleed the lifters like some people mentioned on the forum? I heard if you don't bleed them you hear some sort of ticking. I would like to know in case I ever want to change mine... Dunno if I even have cams in my car or is it just a bad idle lol. Not sure what previous owner did =\
Marc, you can protest all you want. I'm putting the stock cam covers on when I race so you tech boys can't see the mods..
Can you find out if they will change the heat for BSP through one of your contacts or something?Pete, I'm running the GSC Series 1 cams. They're actually 268 degrees, but the lift is pretty high on them.
The turbo isn't installed just yet. I had to port the megan o2 housing, and finally took it off the turbo to do it today. However, I snapped a stud taking it off the turbo, so that took some time to get off. I also started work on removing some of the manifold bolts to see what I would be dealing with when I do proceed with the install. So far, looks like one of the studs will be coming out with the nut.

Yes, I bled all of the lifters. It is a must, and and no other way around it...unless you upgrade to solid lifters of course. You better check your tune out Sanh, I'm 100% sure you have cams, and they sound pretty damn aggressive!

Well guys there was just a misunderstanding about the LSD. The sales guy was looking up the wrong part on the Quaife website so no biggie. In the end we figured it out. Definately the Front Diff. Anyway, I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Most of you know I'm married with a child and with that comes extra responsibility and bills so I'm forced to make a decision. Either (1)go the cheap route and have JNZ install another factory LSD since they said they have one sitting there from a prior customer thats collecting dust. (2)Have them install the Quaife knowing that the Transfer case still has a good chance of breaking. (3)The expensive one........which my wife says will have to wait about 2months would be the full stage 3 build from Shep. In the end, if I decide to go the cheap route I'm obviously not going to be launching the car at all until it's completely built the right way. I'll just have to think about it until Monday.
If safety is your main concern and you're going to be racing the car alot I wouldn't hesitate to use JMF. I'm eventually going to get a full cage in the Z for doing HPDE's, but that will, imo, make it no longer safe to drive on the street unless I wanna wear my helmet everywhere.

I'm sure you have already but think about how any cage/bar is going to effect hauling the wife and kids around.
we don't tech cars like that anyways, just for safety. You'd have to **** someone off in your class to get protested, so far you've managed not to do that.

there may be some moving around of classes but they have to wait until they fill up before they nail the schedule down... sometimes thats not until the drivers meeting.

I should be jumping to SM next year when I pull a chu and install all the crap I have laying around. I think we all should stay in BSP atleast for this year, the comroderey is what makes it so much fun.

I have a wife and kid with another on the way so I personally would suggest the cheap route and set aside the cash to do it right over winter. In the end it costs a bit more, but you at least get to drive your car in the meantime.
