Pete, it is good timing, except for the fact the motor was just opened back up in July when I did the balance shaft. Looking back now it was stupid not to just replace everything 'while I was in there'. You know what they say about hindsight
Yeah, I was gonna say that, but decided not to. Doing things twice sucks.

You know you're a baller when motors because "consumable" items.

It probably went bad when the bshaft broke. It can take only a few seconds at anything above idle to score bearings and journal surfaces. Once the surfaces are scored the damage just compiles and gets worse rapidly. You may also want to check your head for damage to the cam journal surfaces. The head receives the least amount of oil pressure so if pressure dropped that bad in the block, it was worse in the head.

Do you guys need Thai to show you how to drive it sideways? Looks like lift throttle oversteer in both cases for Chau. Gotta be ready for it and use the throttle and countersteer to pull through. Cold hoosiers and a dirty surface will bring out the best in our cars. Just ask Scott who co-drove my car at the last event...

true dat, gotta anticipate for throttle lift oversteer and throw in some quick opposite lock and back on the throttle. it's easy to catch with AWD cars

Marc,
Maperformance, buschur, GSC, can't go wrong with any of those.. Most important thing would be picking what would work best for your needs. How important is the added tq. from extra displacement to you? You really need to know your next turbo setup to figure out what will be the best combo that suits both conditions well for what you do with the car.

the additional tq would be nice, but I'm sure its not needed. i just figured more displacement since I'll be doing internals and machine work already. i have no idea what turbo setup I'll want to run, I just know I like the powerband of a 2.4l and a black. seems like it would be all you'd ever need for road racing. keep the input coming.

So in the end, whats the more cost effective solution, to build a block or just buy a short block from a vendor like MAP?

For road racing, I would rather have high rpm for wider power band than a stroker. I guess im used to that 9k rpm Honda thing

More drama than politics. I'd like to see a reality show of the shop honestly. It'll probably be 100x better than days of our lives.
