Philadelphia's Classiest Drunkards
I gotta start tracking... how much do lessons cost? I've found with my clutch aggressive driving makes for much smoother gear changes. I'm getting much better, perfect shifts 4 out of 5 for daily driving but every now and then I jerk it a little. and chu and honda guy are the instructors how for away from philly are you guys and your respective tracks?
^I'm not an instructor, but Always-In-Vacuum and honduh-guy are.
There are no cost for "lessons," just cost per track day per organizations, and you get an instructor with the price.
I live in north Philly, and NJMP is closest at about 1 hr drive.

right on... chu where in north philly are you? i'm from juniata,
almost every car i've driven has been stick, save for an altima and a jeep liberty. it's just the clutch on this thing is heavy and the ratios between gears are so short it's more like a truck tranny than anything. My 90 wrangler had an easier trans than this. and my whole drivetrain has been upgraded to handle over 350 tq spinning 35's on 4.11s. when i'm pushing it and shifting between 7500 and 8500 my shifts are perfect consistently it's also my granny shifting needs a little work, i'm used to my wrangler which has about 193 torque at 1500 rpm, so i keep forgetting that keeping the rpms that low in higher gears i'm lugging the poor engine. on the other hand, rev matching when i downshift at higher speeds is spot on... it's my low end, 3k and under that i'm having a lil trouble with

So what does the instructor do? do they just put you behind the wheel and tell you to start driving and explain how to enter exit corners? when to brake and when to accelerate? and how long do you get to track for that $200 +-
also, what does ftw mean?
also, what does ftw mean?
Our cars have like no low end torque and the gearing is tricky if you're not used to it. 4k rpms shifts for around town driving is what works best in my car. That is part of the reason I don't like daily driving it.
Average track time for HPDE is around 2-2.5 hours or 4-5 sessions.
Instructors tell you everything you need to know and hopefully keep it on the pavement and off the walls.

I wouldn't necessarily say no low-end torque in these cars. In any case, it sounds like you may have an "ultimate ratio" trans build, sine you mentioned 4.11. Do you know what kind of clutch you have in there? Sounds like a drag-type setup! It may be the type of clutch that in the car too, some of which are like on/off switches.

also- your post about looking for a place with a skid pad and a place to push your car that is not on a closed course probably is not the best idea if you are still trying to learn to DD an evo.
