Biggest question is when Robert plan to do an X turbo swap, and what aftermarket parts are interchangeable (intake, ic piping, exhaust?). I'd hate to see him put money down now, and find out he has to spend it again for the same parts if he does the swap in a few months.

So imo, mbc, drop-in filter, and a catback is all I'd recommend. There still hasn't been talks about the Evo X and RA sharing the same exhaust design correct? I'm worried about the interchangeability of the downpipes between both models due to different turbo designs.

I would still do a downpipe too, even if you leave the cat on for now. I rolled that way for over 2yrs.

X and RA exhaust are slightly different and can't be interchanged. i wasn't thinking about the turbo swap but that is a good thought. catback and maybe test pipe/resonated test pipe would be an improvement. then decide on the DP when the time comes. IC piping is interchangeable and especially so if he gets the X intercooler.

let's not forget that a tune would be the biggest improvement after all this.

i like how we're planning out his mods for him.

My car ran like ish with an intake, always wanting to stall when you would take the load off the engine... hated it.

Exhaust, fuel pump (not sure about RA's fuel pump size), boost controller and a drop in filter is all you really need to make good power. IMO...
Did you run the intake without compensating for it with a reflash? My take is anything that can facilitate volumetric flow has to be a good thing.

I left the dp out based on the intention of the turbo swap. As Dan said above, they're not interchangeable...so Robert would be buying twice (big no-no for me!)

And yes Dan, a toon would make everyone happy!

I used to be a believer in the stock air box theory until I started logging & tuning. ditched the stock airbox w/K&N filter for a buschur MAF pipe w/pep-boys cone filter and my MPH went from a consistant 108-110 to 111-113 at the track.

Ask petey what he thinks, I'm sure he can validate whether the gains are there or not.

For the X or ralliart, power gains fron adding an intake are usually from the changes to the a/f ratio.. Once you get to bigger power levels it starts becoming restrictive. I like the aem intake box, it's like stock but higher flowing. It is also quiet but some people like the wwwwwwwhoosh sound from an open filter..
