Yeah, I lurk every now and then. Nothing really to post about though.

Thanks for the tips.

i made it another week of work! and damn if this beer didnt taste even better than normal.

so can i get some of the "experts" on here opinions. what does everyone think about valvetrain upgrades. when I hit 60k im doing cams and head studs too. before anyone says "i dont need it" or its not neccessary, I am planning on doing it.

I am prob going to go with kelford 272 or some s2s. Trying to get everything done the first time, so if I go bigger turbo im already all set.

im relatively new and havent researched the available options yet. if i plan on doing full bolt ons do i want: dual springs, single spring, titanium retainers, beehives, or some other company? looking for people with first hand experience and how they like them and where they got them for a good price.

thanks gents. Marc, do you have full valvetrain upgrade? i think Jim does too but hes not on here. anyone else?

I just did S2's with GSC beehive spring kit at my 60k with gates belts..Love the S2's.. Idle rough but never stalls, even with AC on and even running tephra V7 which initially made the drivability terrible, but with some adjustments seems somewhat acceptable now. I make more power with no timing at 23psithen I ever did on E85 at 30+. Kind of wish I had a bbk or green since boost is low and turbo is being wasted. My car wants to knock inconsistantly over 24psi so it is what it is.. I did the springs with the head on the car..GSC also sells a spring, retainer, and spring seat kit which is very nice. Possibly overkill but "while you are in there" kind of thing.. I also replaced my lifters with big bore topline lifters that tick like crazy until she warms up, go figure.

BTW I think I am one of the few who have ventured past just cams, everyone else likes valve float, especially jimbone..Doing valvesprings is no walk in the park, took me 8 hours for just the springs alone.

pete, how would you compare the kelfords to the gsc's? obviously you like the s2s, and they have a little more lift. so what would you recommend for my car running the stock 8 turbo with plans to upgrade to an fp or bbk in the future?

dual springs and retainers? do you think lifters are necessary for my build? also, what do you think about the gates belt? a lot of people love it, but then some say just stick with oem for reliability sake (idea is if it works so well from mitsu, why change it type of deal?

feel free to PM, text, or call me if thats easier. sorry for all the questions just trying to get everything squared away before 60k miles so I am all ready.

-injectors
-FMIC (depends on if I go stock turbo or not)
- cams
-valvetrain
- intake
- IC piping
- 02 housing
- head studs
- cam gears
- also is a complete fluid change recommended for 60k I am assuming?

What else am I missing or things that may be good vs unnecessary. thanks bro I appreciate the advice/help

I wouldn't do the headstuds unless you really feel you have too... Not a huge fan of cracking that seal unless its needed. I did them on mine just because the head had to come off anyways. My car seems to be leaking oil now, pretty sure its from the head but I'm not 100% positive. Its not bad enough that it drips, but its wet under there...

As for cam's, I would do the GSC's, there was just another thread the other day of how another Kelford snapped on a guy. No thanks...

The shots of Jager put a hurtin on me though...

If anyone is interested and are fans of Rogue Brewing Company, DR has a Rogue event coming up soon. It may be next weekend, I'll get more details if your interested or you can just go to www.draftingroom.com for more info.

Yea, chu told me about it. Sounds like alot of fun! I've never been to a motorsports event so watching race prepped ferrari v8's wailing around a course would be sweet.
