I'm sorry, I forgot you were the only one with a BMW. . Of course I drove a BMW, on several occasions I might add. I guess I should have been clearer. When I said RWD or AWD, I was only comparing it to the TL. the keyword in my original statement being "OR".

Luxury, reliability, performance : IMHO, you only get to choose 2 of the 3.

I know the performance aficionados (read most of us) are going to recommend the BMW, but I thought nick was done with dealing with problems all-together and just wanted something really problem free, not something with problems and a warranty to cover whenever he has problems. Hence the lexus gets my vote.

I dont think the evo 10 was built for power, for the long haul anyway, both the GSR and MR have **** transmissions, i think it was poorly engineered in relation to the 8s and 9s. Theres a laundry list in a sticky of "what you should know about your X" on the X forums. Also, I have friends and family tellin me idk how to drive a manual. And its making me furious. I had a manual b4 my evo with no problems.

If i could take it back i would have bought a 9
Now why do you have to go dissing our rides!!!

Seriously though, I understand how you feel. The CMC issue I had might seem like a small issue to an outsider, but I was so friggin frustrated during that time, just like you are now. It screwed my entire experience for a whole month.

If you want Diesel you need to get a 3/4 ton, they don't put them in half-ton trucks. Just sayin'
Pete! I would expect you to have inside info on the diesel industry! Look for an aluminum straight 6 in a compact pickup in the very near future.. That being said, you should be able to figure out exactly what I am referring to..

so who was it in the white X I saw in Camden a few minutes back? Was it one of you guys? Also got to see an NSX for the first time in my life today. At first I thought it was a corvette looking from the front and I ignored it, then I saw the word "Acura" on the backside and was stoked.

Idk man, all i know is

Yes, I had one of the first few Xs out of production

Yes, I had 1st gen mods

Yes, I have 351 whp with all bolt ons and 340 wtq

Yes, I have my ten as a daily driver

Yes, I have 35,+++ miles

But still, i think this should have all been compensated for...its a performance car, that can perform...when it decides it wants too

Does anyone on this thread have as many miles as i do with as much hp as i do? I dont even know, maybe you guys have been lucky...for now...but honestly, i hope that it is just my car, because i dont wish this much frustration to any of my fellow x aficionados.

If i had another car and i was on active duty already with a stable job, I would be like meh, but it sucks, im only 23 fresh out of college, in debt, and havent started my real job yet. Im *****ing again, i need to quit

On a better note, volks r off the car, and i really like the way my stock wheels look again they are clean, and not curbed! hahahaha

i can vouch for the toyota/lexus reliability thing. the corrolla i have has 107k miles and my wife has beaten the crap out of it since 2003 and the only thing that has been done to it in it's life are tires, brake, alignments, oil changes and scheduled services. you can't argue with that.

BMW's are solid and strong cars but have been known to have some electrical issues sometimes but I think BMW compensates for possible problem by offering free maintanence and warranty for 5 years. Then you can buy an extended warrranty/maintanence for another 5 years to 100k miles. They don't seem to jerk you around with warranty work like Mitsu does but a lot of Bimmer owners aren't making a minimum of 100hp over stock.

nick i am making a bit more power than you and have been good but i haven't had that power for the full 30k miles and i don't DD the car anymore.

I have read about that engine your refering too, but to be honest since I work for a totally different division of the company I have no inside knowledge what so ever. I know there doing some really cool and different things down there but as to what exactly is going on I don't have a clue.

I completely agree with you that they are strong cars, but 15k oil changes that the dealer does for free is not reason alone for me to buy one. Thats more like every other or every third for free, esp if you plan on keeping the car for an extended period of time.
I also do know for a fact (at least I'm told by peeps who work there) if you mod your 335i in anyway (exhaust, intercoolers, flash) they throw your warranty right out the window. Sound familar...? The only way you can do it and keep a warranty is if you buy Dinan equipment (mucho $$$), even then it has to be installed by a Dinan approved shop/tech. I know Devon Hill was a Dinan dealer, not sure if they still are? Bimmerworks is as well.

Yeah, I have no doubt in my mind that BMWs are nice cars. In any other case, I would have voted that too, hell even I would pick it up over a lexus. But in this case, the only thing that can take all the bad taste that the evo left nick with seems to be the Lexus IMO. The service quality and lower TCO plus it succeeds in keeping the mod bug away, so that's more money saved.

I qualify for most of the conditions with about 32K miles on mine. But I only recently got the tune and bolt-ons. The only issue worth mentioning that I've had was the CMC and even that was because of an aftermarket part I chose. BTW, mine's an early 2008 X too. Bought it in 03/08. Dunno about the production date though.

i'm not looking to mod the wife's car or get into the BMW scene so the warranty stuff works out for me. talking to chau about the maintanence BMW has set up, he feels that even with 15k mile oil changes that these cars will last just fine. i don't have plans to keep her car for more than 2-3 years anyway. she'll want some "mom car" of something or maybe an X5.

I agree about not modding her car. The 335 would be the only one worth modding IMO anyways. I do think 15k is way to long on oil changes, even my friends who work there agree with me on that.

No I just love dirt and diesel but try to stay away from tractors

Dead serious. The week of the 7th. If you into camping you can stay on the farm. I would offer you a bed, but the house is booked up on tractor show weekend

I got a mean clay pigeon thrower last weekend too, takes 2 guys just to move it around.........just sayin'
