Yeah, the prosolo sounds great. Thanks for the writeup Mike.

If we get enough of us slow drivers there we will have someone to compete against I know I wont be attempting a proper launch, my t-case already took a beating from the uneven tire wear.

At a minimum I'll be there to watch. Now I understand why chuck always wins these, but not the tours. Will they allow instructor runs? lol

I know the whole eneven tire thing is a big no no on these cars, but how bad do you think it is? I kinda feel like people blow it out of proportions a bit. Its not like you're running two extremely different tires, right? When I first bought the car, the previous owner have bald tires in the front, and two brand new tires in the rear. I drove it for 5k, and didn't have any problems. Not saying that anyone should, but I don't think the beating is as bad as you think. Anyways, launching the Evo is fun!

i just realized that the pro event would be like 4 launches in like 2 minutes!

one front tire was nearly bald, the other had 1/4 tread left. The rear tires had a similar difference the one corner looked about 80%

I had been rotating every couple auto-x, but i think the interval was uneven. I would check my tires on occaision. Either I wasn't looking hard enough, or the tires wore quickly over 2 events.

either way, t-case oil was pretty dark. I've been paranoid ever since. The car makes lots of noise, but the whines i hear generally go away when i press the clutch in at speed. I read that that was a good test for t-case problems.

I agree with you on this one Chu, I don't see how uneven tire wear can really cause that much damage... I could see it being a problem with two vastly different sizes like you said, say a F 225/50 & R 245/40, but not worn vs newer... What the hell do I know though.

Happy friday gents.

usually uneven wear from left to right is the issue. front to back is not.

I 'think' its only an issue if you're talking about a noticable difference in overall diameter between any tires (ie; like driving on a donut for long distances). Remember, the diff will slip when you turn the wheel, so i don't think a slight difference in diameter (meaning one tire is turning slightly faster or slower than another) will be an issue.

but in theory wouldn't the diff slip during a straight run constantly? like if kenny was going 80-90 on a highway the diff would be going the whole time.

the diff should only be slipping when you have one wheel moving faster than another, like in a turn or what we're talking about here with uneven tire diameter. I don't 'think' the diff is slipping at all when the car is going perfectly straight unless you have two drastically different tire diameters.

yeah thats what i mean- if the uneven tire diameters are significant enough the diff would be active and on during straights heating it up.

not sure how this all is related to kenny's tcase though
