Local Pittsburgh meet part deux
If we are talking about the benz for Mrs. S it was on blocks last time I saw. Mad Mike had it all ripped up... He just can't get away from car projects
.
Saber: Yeah, he charged me $4.00 I think I gave him 10. Its good old shops like that who still perform great work for actually reasonable prices, they don't mark up like a mo fo just to rob you blind.
Don't worry about Beatty cutting and welding exhausts or the hanger, just go in and tell him what you want and you can mark it for him if you'd like. He is pretty good with all projects, I have been to him a few times now.
Another good small company that has EVERYTHING you would need is Tri-State Hose and Supply in Coraopolis (4122690230). Someone PMed me and asked where I got all my -AN fittings and SS lines for the engine build and I will always recommend them. I went in and he had absolutely EVERYTHING in stock, the prices weren't bad and you can't beat the time it takes them to make any special line and fitting setup you'd need. He made me a new brake line after one of the goodridges developed a hole and it was ready in no joke 5 minutes. So anything hose or fitting related, just take the specs to them and they will make you anything you need.

You don't need an exhaust shop, just take it to a welding of fab place, they will be cheaper too. I either weld the crap myself at home, or take it to this little shop called Beatty Welding on Babcock Blvd in Pittsburgh. I feel bad because the guy asks for peanuts for jobs, I took a LICP there and a bracket or two, and he asked for like $4.00. Got it back the same day too, only took him an hour or two.
When I get my VT muffler i will be going to him to get the tip and bracket welded on - hopefully in a couple weeks.....
Nice to have places like this close to home
Well it has a flapper inside the muffler which gets opened by the exhaust itself. The theory is at idle and under low throttle it will stay close or mostly closed and thus keep the noise level down. However the cams create a pulsing exhaust which causes the flapper to have a rapping sound as a it continuously opens and closes.
Well, finished up a good night tonight with the car. Tweaked the timing map in a few places and finally got rid of the low RPM part throttle knock, it was only a degree in three places, but it worked out great. I just hated that damn CEL flashing at me randomly when I was just cruising. Also got the idle in check, had to adjust the screw and mess with some of the idle tables to get it to be somewhat stable. It is still "lopey", but that isn't going to change because of the double pumper and no aftermarket fuel pressure regulator.

Eric, that works sometimes, but they still hear the grumble and follow you because of the monster wing.
Ran into Canexican tonight, car looked good and he was off to meet some exotic cars (hopefully no more flashlight drag ladies
). I hope that oil works out for you, and I am anxious to see how the analysis of it comes out on a stock motor with some good miles on it and E-85. Let me know how it goes and if you like it, I can find the name of the supplier in the area.
(It is the Brad Penn 20W-50 semi-synthetic race oil. BR recommended it in all of his motors and even stock setups)
