Get that patented ASAP!
Yeah I agree, bend it down far enough so you can reach halfway under the car while standing

Why do I feel like the Pittsburgh section is the redheaded stepchild of the Northeast Region, always ending up in timeout or losing recess privileges..

yeah, pretty lame that someone comes in lying and misrepresenting themselves, and our tags go away.

Just go for the mitsu "RS" Short shifter.

How does Mitsu make a short shifter?

They countersink the stick into the top of the shift knob to make it "shorter".

That's marketing for you.

There are only a few options for short shifters for the 5 speed. IMO it is isn't necessary, especially with the 5, you will already notice a huge difference in the throw distance between the 6 and 5 speeds.

Just get a good complete set of shifter bushings and call it a day.

One of my first 3 mods was a short shifter. I run the B&M. You need to cut the shifter base some if you want to run the shortest throw. It's a great mod IMO.

Awe! Our tag limit severely decreased as well. They were deleted twice it looks like. I had 2 last night after the initial deletion that were just "reserving space" for future usage Hmmmm.....now where can i find (2) other threads to put descriptive, yet accurate tags in so that the people of this message board can be pointed into the right direction.....

when i had my VIII my favorite set of mods was my shifting gear.

i got the BR underhood bushings, kartboy base bushings, and a B&M short throw shifter (non adjustable). it really tightened up and quickened the shifting feel. combine that with the lighter flywheel i had in it and it would shift as fast as i could move my limbs.

i was a bit disappointed when i got the 6spd and there was no listen shirt shifter compatible with it. i've always had the sneaking suspicion that any of the 5spd short throws would work with it, but haven't wanted to venture over $100 on a hunch yet. (plus i am worried that if i took it off, i would never get my reverse lockout collar back on properly). so i compromised and opted for the kartyboy base bushings and BR underhood bushings instead. i am still a bit fan of how they make the shifting feel more solid.
