Local Pittsburgh meet part deux
i'm of two minds on this.
either the IP address is tied to the actual SID of the handset and never changes, or like you said dave they use a tower based DHCP.
but i am leaning towards the first option, or at least a DHCP that stays relatively constant unless you get a new lease.
hrm... now i need to go find a packet logger that will run on a blackberry. too bad cain and abel won't execute on it.
-edit-
a quick visit on my handset to proxyblind.org shows nothing specific about it being a proxy per se. however the DNS resolves with a reference to Squid after the hostname, which is a large open source proxy script written in PHP (i think).

i have never played with the backend for BES, so i'm not sure if it functions as a DHCP server or not.
After I got it up and running right BES has been superb though. Probably the only setup I have ever done where the guy who wrote the manual obviously did the install at one point.
That's pretty nifty that verizon provides public addresses. I had tried to do what you are describing on t-mobile and had to do some highly questionable setup on the device to get a public IP.

That's a real plus from an admins standpoint though. I really dislike how I can't really nuke any other mobile handsets other then my BB users. Even windows mobile devices can't be wiped as easily as the bb's.

One thing that is interesting, or coincidence, i dont know which, is that the ip is always on the same subnet in a certain range. So for instance 1 day it will be xxx.xxx.27.102 and within 15-20 days it will change to xxx.xxx.96.17.
So, the fleshlight drags went well. I was very disappointed at the conditions and lack of fast cars available to run though. They had just repaved the runway, but it was like driving on gravel. Alot of the powerful street cars pulled out of the event early and the ones I really wanted to race (like a ZR1) wouldn't run me because they were afraid of wrecking if they pushed too hard.
Here's good HD video. I put info of all the cars I ran against in descriptions, enjoy.

This was the result of the day:
A new turbo!

Lastly, the Duke was a big success with every male nerd on Carson St. Chicks thought I was Rambo...I guess I can accept that.

That turbo? It says "TDO4LR" on the housing. I don't plan on installing it, haha. Still a lot cooler looking of a trophy than the last one they gave me.
Anyone know of a reputable car alarm installer in or around Pittsburgh?
On sidenote, Sears has all of their Mobil1 products on sale this week for $5 a quart...for those of you that may still be "under warranty". I know most are using Amsoil or better.
