PCD: Last year's version
NIce vids Honda-guy and good time last weekend. You should have stayed on Sunday. Mad track time. 23's on street tires is NO JOKE. Deez foolz don't even kno how fast that is. To put it in perspective, last time I was there a fully built and shop supported EVO with motons, hoosiers and just about everything that can be done (big turbo, built motor, high boost, custom manifold, ect) was running 21's. For another point of reference my very first time at Main back in Aptil I went 27's on street tires. so your time is a whole 5 seconds faster than mine and only 2 sec slower than a beast of an EVO.
My weekend was bitter sweet. The bimmer was understeering like crazy with the new swaybars. I tried everything I/we could think of to dial it out including disconnecting the front bar but nothing did the trick. Its very frustrating when you know how the car should feel and what it should be doing with certain input but you can't get it to happen. I'm not one to blame equipment but that was the only change since last time I was there.
The other issue I am having is with my ABS not working. That is even bigger than the understeer issue. I would lock up an inside tire with roughly around 60% of brake pedal pressure I normally use. Need to get that fixed before I take it out again. When an under powered car can't turn-in or stop well its not fun to drive.
On the bright side, aside from the Miata student saving our lives, the other good things that happened were I was able to 'test' the bimmer out before WGI and realize I still had all these problems. It would have really sucked to drive all teh way up there thinking the car was good only to find on the first lap I had mad issues. The other awesome thing that happend was one of my buddies old students game me a free suspension worth about $1400.00. That really made the weekend. He will be at WGI, too!
Looks like with all these bimmer issues I'm having I won't be taking that car to WGI this weekend, so TED will be in full effect! HOLLA

Like others already said, you might have issues with those pads. It will really depend on how fast you go and how good you are with the brakes. Those pads don't have a high temp rating, so they will not be able to take repeated stops from the speeds you can generate at WGI. If you just *****-foot around the track you'll be fine, but if you are nailing T1 and WOT from there to the bus stop then I think you're gonna have issues, bra.

Sweet!

I think I may have sourced some pads from the Chu-ster...
Who wants to help me change them Friday?
I'm a novice running in novice group, bra. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks for the input. I really don't have a clue what it might take for pads. I've heard people do several track days with DS2500's, but WGI is a different track than most. I think my pads would be fine for day 1, but depending on how comfotable I feel, it may be a problem day 2. Either way I will have a blast, even if I need to brake sooner and go slower, but it would suck to be limited because of pads.

I'm sure between all of us we'll have enough spares to keep you going. I usually only carry one spare set with me but I'll being extras just in case. Swapping pads won't be an issue either. Not a game racing doesn't play around when it comes to HPDE domination.
I completely wasted DS 2500 front pads on my car at Beaver Run or Pocono back in the day, I forget which track. I would definitely get different pads for that heavy beast you drive. If you are going to pussyfoot around track I guess you will be ok, but if you are going to TED you best get something better. I personally like my Carbotech XP12's, but pads are like a-holes, everyone has an opinion. Just get something that can handle the abuse and you will be good. I can personally say brake issues are no fun. My brakes were acting up at Lightning, scared me 3 separate times before we got my car right. Issue was oil and antifreeze getting on front tires, my car was spitting a bit of fluid that weekend. Pads and brakes when they worked were great.
