i also did not expect lightning to initially require such an amount of ***** to drive...those hill turns are sketchy as **** until you get comfortable with them.
i was lucky enugh to suffer brake oddities again all day saturday and *****ed about it. I think i may have found the issue tho...

Congrats Marc.
Nate, My first impression of Lightning was that I didn't like it as much as I did Thunderbolt. Then I did a bunch of tbolt events. Having been back to lightning last month, I realized I want more time on Lightning lately. Marc always says the two tracks compliment each other perfectly and I have to agree.

I'm pumped to get back on lightning as well. Although, I've only ever done thunderbolt in the rain. Still hoping to get a crack at it in the dry some day.

i liked thunder even in the rain, i assume id like it even more in the dry...i thought it was technical. then i found that lightning to me was even more technical. i got the line down for the two hill turns which made them pretty damn fun, especially turn 1. Originally Posted by dek0026

i want to stab turn 7 (under the bridge) in the eye with a sharp object multiple times. it gave me fits all day no matter what i did. probably tried 10 different braking markers was early or late every time. although i talked to jordan at the end of the day and it sounds like i needed to be all the way down to 3rd not 4th, but i never really pushed the speed because i was working on braking all day.

so heres what i discovered with my brakes. this is after i put on new rotors to eliminate them as the issue.
first off these 2 pads are about 2mm thinner then the other two. i was running one thick and one thin on each side (these were bought used to try the compound).

the bottom pad looked more like the top one when i put them in, and the top one had less chunked out too
i did some measuring in 6 spots on each pad (picture it sitting in the caliper, leading edge = outside edge of rotor)
-top edge
-bottom edge
-leading edge upper and lower
-trailing edge upper and lower
on 3 of 4 pads, each measurement was within 0.1mm of the same position on the other side of the pad. BUT....
on one pad the leading edge of the pad differs by right about 0.5mm top to bottom which is about 20 thousandths. quick google showed the corvette taper service limit to be down in the 2-3 thousandths range i believe.
im thinking this set of pads is trash and thats why.

Here is the in car vid from our last drift shession. As usual the video doesn't do it justice, but son e you guys have all been on tb you should have a feel for what the car is doing. Honda-girls videos from outside look much better.

THanks.
Thai and I both had epic weekends with setting new track records in our classes and Nguyening tires. Blackendwings also had a great time in his car.

I told him to buy me dinner and I would sabotage Thai, but he failed to reply fast enough. So I sent Thai and said break records, or don't come home.
