Tekniq Auto has a solution. They have a removable steering wheel assembly. When you leave your car you pop off the steering wheel and no one can drive your car anywhere. Mind you people could still tow your car away, but I haven't heard of many theives doing that, especially the low-end thieves.

It's very simple installation and you can have it made to use any wheel, even your stock wheel. Mind you the airbag won't function anymore, but nonetheless.

I don't work for them, but it's something that I'd consider installing if I drove an Evo, Sti or any other car.

You all should look into it. Because for $299, it's cheaper and more effective than a car alarm. I mean whose going to break into a car where they see no friggen steering wheel.

my friend had a civic... all CF and it got stolen from his apt. .. it was dragged out b/c u can see the tire marks on the ground.. and it was found stripped to the bone in newark.

I know a repo company and there job is to take cars and they said the only way to steal an evo is to tow it or get a key cut for it, but that will only happen if you get it from the inside. If you know what I mean. There is no way to hot wire or force the ignition. All someone has to do is get your vin and then they might know someone that works at mitsubishi that can get the key cut.

Mutilock has a screwed up web page so it doesn't show their car products but it pretty much looks the same as Defendlock:

I would get the one of the bottom three models.
As far as I know it welds to the chassis and the key-hole part goes out with the key once you remove the key leaving your shifter locked and noone can change gears.

Not sure why it wasn't brought to the US already, it exists for decades in Europe.
Good looking product... but what gear would you lock it in? Either way they get your car started and then drive it in one gear, not a problem I'm sure.

As I mentioned to you on the phone.. I live in EB also. My Evo didn't get stolen but it got broken into and they stole a crap load of stuff not to mention the damage they caused. Don't think thugs can't go into your neighborhood from somewhere else. Yah we live in a good area but the only thing that means is we have nice things that other people want and will find a way to get

I don't think anyone here is racist. Just a sad reality
Also, one of the reasons is Newark/Elizabeth are port cities/towns and most of the stuff from there can dissapear in a heartbeat.
I believe that Jersey City (right next to Newark) is the leading town in car thefts in the US, or at least it was...
Dude everyone has a little racial frustration when crap like this happens it unnavoidable. When my integra got stolen I knew where it was going. I knew it would wind up in Perth Amboy. Then 5 days later I get a phone call where did they find it Perth Amboy. When that happened what the hell was the first thing that came out of my mouth.. Damn mother FOlken well you can look up the demographics of that area. Not sayiing it was right but hey man what the hell you expect when i see these little ora le esa thugs running around stealing ppls crap.. GET A FALKEN JOB ... or go back to ........ It's unfortunate that these kinds of thoughts enter our minds but hey what do you expect ... you've just been violated and a natural defense is to be wary of the types of people that did this.

what about GPS tracking? i know it comes with software that can track where exactly you car is. it's better than lowjack whereas you need a cop with a lowjack tracker to find the car. with this, anyone with a comp can find it. i'm thinking about getting in my Evo real soon. cost just as much a lowjack.

Reverse.
Don't you think a cop would find it a little odd if you drove in reverse all the time?

What about containers?
Put a car in one and forget your GPS tracking.
To the common theif - immobilizer and a decent mechanical device (not club) is more than enuf to prevent them from taking the car.
To a pro - it really doesn't matter what you got.

Funniest thing I saw once they stole one car was that owner only found the tracking device and the club in the driveway
