Angry STI Stolen

My friend just got his STI on Wednesday and they stole it from his work parking lot last night. How bad does that suck, he had less than 250 miles on it. I helped him install has Alpine head unit and MB Quart components over the weekend. It is the second car they stole from him in the last 2 years, the last one was a 3 series BMW. The STI was silver with silver wheels and still had the temp tags on it. It was stolen from West Orange, so they probably have in somewhere in Newark, East Orange, or Irvington. I work in Newark so I am going to be on the look out, any NJ people who are in that area please do the same. These people usually keep these cars on the streets for about a month to make sure there is no tracking device. EVO and STI owners just be extra careful it seems these cars are a hot item in the hood, and now that the weather is getting better these people become more active in stealing our rides.

It seems that STi's are way hotter than Evos and from everything I've found on this forum, most of them are stolen around East Orange, West Orange. You could even find them on the street there.
It's sad to hear a story like this.
Do STi's also come with coded keys like Evos?
The engine immobilizer...

infact the EVO parts can be sold much easier and more expensive than the STI parts. Seats is one example then turbo then engine. the list goes on and on.

That sux that the STI was stolen. I hate people who pull crap like that. As for the EVO parts being sold easier and more expensive, yes they can be sold easier but they are cheaper then STI parts. Hence why the EVO is a symbol 18 with insurance and the STI is a 2? (I forget the sti but i know the stock wrx is a symbol 20).

Its prolly the dick who sold him the car, I mean my sister got her car broken into right after they put a CD player in because they knew where we live so with a car they're going to know everything about you so they could just steal it.

sorry to hear bout the STI but he's probably gunna find it in newark stripped with nothing left..my brother used to have an SI all hooked up, parked it in Wehawken, and it was stolen. they found the shell of the car in newark...that was all that was left..nothing else..your friend will get a new one w/ full coverage. he needs a better/safer place to park.
to all you haters out there.

No updates. SoR: The keys were not coded. High Voltage: I think you are probably right, my guess would be that someone at the dealership or one of my friends employees had something to do with it. It was only the 3rd or 4th time he had the car at work, how many other people would have known it was there? The silver doesn't really stick out that much. I think because the parts are all compatible with the WRX and the RS it makes them easy to unload on the street, that is probably why they went after it.

I hear you man, my girlfirends friend just got his sti stolen also. It was blue with the gold rims. We live in Union and they stole it while he was visiting his girlfriend in newark. They took it like a week and a half after he bought it. My neighbor down the street from me had just gotten a black one a week before him. One week later I saw the shell in front of his house missing everything from the wing and seats and rims, all the way to engine components. So sad to just see the shell there. These sti's are becomming the new type r's in jersey. You just cant seem to own them without some ******* stealing them for the goodies. My best friend has a type r that he has to keep locked in his garage all the time because of this. People work so hard for thier cars and bust thier *** for thier dream, and some ******* comes along and steals it to make a quick buck. I just wish there was some code of ethics among enthusists.

The problem is the guys that take these cars aren't enthusiasts. They are doing it for a payout of about $500-$1000. My friend spent that alone on stereo equipment. Like you said, they do it for the fast cash. It is the guys higher up that make the money on it. Who ever took this car probably doesn't know about the car at all, all they know is that it has a hood scoop and a big spoiler.
