There was a story of a business man in a Lexus who had his floor mat get stuck on the accelerator, and they couldn't stop it, so they crashed into a tree going 130 and 4 businessmen later Lexus found the problem to their mysterious "unstoppable" accelerator....

Can't say some people are the smartest.

Toyota is slipping. All the Sienna vans just a year or two old are breaking welds on the doors where the check strap goes. Had 4 of them come in for repair in just a couple of months.

Another reason why manual transmissions prevail.

the driver of the lexus was dumb! could had threw it in neutral. oh wells **** happens and im truly sorry about it. i am a expert tech for toyota. never really heard anything like that before and everyone know that **** was stupid so toyota came up with an idea and spreaded out to all toyota and lexus dealerships to make sure the floor mats are clipped into its location (especially all weather floor mats) (stock rubber mats). they also came out with this stupid idea to cut the pedal on the new model tacoma trucks. other then that nothing we should worry about

In the case of the Lexus with the floor mat getting stuck on the gas pedal, in a situation like that you need to just be calm, and think straight, but those guys wernt thinking, they called the cops in the time they couldve been pulling out the floor mat and slowed the car down.

Now-a-days kids are taught better in drivers ed, so they know how to react in a situation like that, back in the day, they didnt teach those sort of things, so its hard to blame anyone, or say that the guys failed, if anyone failed, it was Lexus for making floor mats that had the capability to do that sort of thing.

I live near 3 high schools. I would argue that no, kids these days dont have any more common sense than we did.

And watching them beat on their BMW's, Mercs or the occasional 90's era 911 (i'm not making this up) all over town fills my heart with dread at sharing a road with them.
