Car wouldn't start Sunday afternoon, no turn over, no clicking etc, however; the fuel pump primed and all other electronics worked...battery fully charged.
A couple hours later it started right up. Checked the wires to the starter yesterday and all were snug, no corrosion etc.
A couple things add: Saturday I installed an aftermarket steering wheel, so there could have been some jiggling of the wires in the column. Went back and checked it all and it looks good, no stretched or worn wiring.
also has 105k on it, so I know a lot of people have had to change out the ignition switch by now.
My question is, if the switch is bad, does it prevent the starter from engaging or does it just prevent the coils/spark from firing?
Your steering column lock maybe ???Originally Posted by EvilTechnology

Hey everybody I ran across this car on CL I have been wanting an evo for some time but have decided not to buy one because of the cost to Insure it. Well I finally found an insurance quote under 200 a month and this car is awful tempting.

I didn't really want an MR because of the reliability issues of the 6spd once you start building them and the $5000 dollar badge on the trunk. I looked at the car and it is pretty clean the guy who owns it does not seem to be the enthusiast type so I'd love to take it off his hands. What do you guys think about this deal? Should I hold out and find a low mile IX like I was planing or should I bite?

if you can get it for 22-23 i'd say do it
ask him how much is left on the loan
ask him how much is left on the loan

He says he owes around 26. Hes not saying exactly, someone is trying to offer him some cash on top of it 27K total. However, he just wants to get out from under it and hes not trying to make any money.Originally Posted by llDemonll

This is what I was thinking about offering him, but there's enough interest that he probably wont take any less than he owes (ie. him paying cash out of pocket). I don't really want an over driven tortured evo as it would probably become far more expensive than this car which is basically brand new, wont even need a timing belt for another 40K miles. I would wait longer as I have patience, but I know I want an IX and they are only seeing more miles and more abuse.Originally Posted by jdmEviL8
even 25k for an 06 MR with 20k miles is a great deal
That being said how often do you guys see < 25k mile evos? (06 and older to be specific.)
Lol @ "completely stock and hasn't been modified" when it's clearly lowered.

It is SE I've looked at the car looks clean apart from the road grime on it. Originally Posted by llDemonll

That's what i thought it looked lowered in the front but he said it had stock springs and bilstiens. They didn't look aftermarket too me but I've never had the privilege to work on an evo so I wouldn't know.Originally Posted by Mistaken

definitely not stock
if you go look at it again the stock blistens are yellow, stock springs are black. aftermarket springs are also black, so careful there. red, green, light blue are all aftermarket colors as well as black, but that's definitely not stock height

Window tint and lowering are considered "stock" in the same breath as Obama care is considered "financially viable".
