^ guess I should have added that a good set of winter tires is an EXCELLENT investment for the rain (did you know that we have more than a few days of rain per year?). I run Blizzaks in the winter and in light rain/full rain/deluge the car has as much grip as my summer tires (Z1 star spec's) on a cold day with moisture on the road.
Having a car with exceptional grip, regardless of the conditions, EVERY day of the year is worth it to me. What say you?

I got some stock enkeis with some hankook winter tires. Unfortunately one of the tires has a lot of camber wear that I wasn't completely aware of.. So, they're sitting in my garage. I'm contemplating winter tires.. But with the fact that I work from home, and will be flying to the east coast most of the winter, and not being able to snowboard.. I will probably not get new tires this year. -___________-

OK, thx so much guys. You have all convinced me leaving the advans on in the winter is not worth the risk.
I am also thinking damaging my BBS's would break my heart.
So I've decided to get another set of wheels AND tires.
Now the question, should the second set be all-seasons' or winters?
I'm guessing the all-seasons will give me better perf in the cold rain and still give me some more traction than advans in occasional snow. Tempted to go with something like this Bridgestone Potenza ultra high perf all-season http://bit.ly/vZDTdv so I can keep them on most of the year and still get good performance even when roads are dry.
On the other hand, if we have a dedicated pair of tires, maybe go all out with some more "serious" winter tires. which will be much better in the worst conditions but presumably have poorer cornering in dry conditions? This option would be something like a set of Blizzaks. http://bit.ly/ztiTGb

I work in a tire shop and getting a set of snows is the BEST idea and thing you can do. Blizzaks are one of the best snow tires you can get and I love them. They give you better wet and cold weather traction. But as rim's go. getting another set of rim's is a good idea. First is you could trash them and then be out a rim. Second they like to salt roads and that really trashes rims.
