^^^ Yeah I'm really happy with the car.

I don't have the drive to change the entire turbo setup to move to V-bands, at least not yet. So I'm planning on using the inconel studs and adding some more safety wire. I'm happy with the power delivery of the car for what I do with it. Any more spent this off season will likely go into have the rear diff rebuilt with the TRE goodness, and adding a front diff since I'm still on the open '03 model. That should really improve the grip.

I mean V-band on the turbine housing, not just the wastegates.

You're talking turbine to o2 housing right? They both make twinscroll V-band kits from what it looks like.

Jared,

I have Nickel rod so I can tig a v-band onto your turbine housing.

I did it for a few Holsets locally...and I know F-R does it to soem of their BW turbos that used to have Marmon flanges.

I'm talking V bands on everything so I stop having every bolt near the turbo coming loose. It seems like you can get them everywhere but the actual inlet to the turbine. So I'm talking about a twin scroll manifold with a special divided V-band for the connection to the turbo, and then a trick twin scroll divided turbine housing with V-bands at both ends. You would need some alignment features on the faces of the bands so the manifold to turbine gets clocked correctly.

I have it all planned out in my head, but like I said, I'm totally happy with the power delivery in my car and would focus my "free-time" to more grip. So it's just an idea right now, and I'll likely solve my issue with new studs and safety wire for now, which won't take long at all to fix-up.

Here you go. Just saw this at SEMA at the Garrett booth. The guys at Garrett said they should be available sometime around March or April of 2012. They will have them in 3 different A/Rs for GT30Rs and GT35Rs.

Cool.

Looks like a printed rapid prototype part - so the first castings aren't ready yet.

I've been thinking about my car recently, still need to order the inconel studs and rip into the turbo system and fasten things down a little better.

But my free-time has been busy with my CNC milling machine build. It's been similar in scale and effort to the EVO build. Lots of time out in the garage making parts to mount the precision ballscrews, servo motors, encoders, larger three phase AC motor, flood enclosure, motor control systems etc. When it's done I'll be able to crank out whatever I like in terms of parts - in the garage. So I could cut my own billet smooth transition exhaust manifold flanges, turbo flanges, control arms, motor mounts, suspension uprights with improved geometry, better BOV's or custom brackets for neon lights or NAWZ bottles. You know, stuff that is super sweet.

Here are some images from that. Hopefully I'll be up and running by spring, right now I'm still finishing up some parts with the machine in manual mode.

Current State.

"Don't get metal all over the garage" plastic enclosure.

Flood cooling enclosure in process

Parts finished up for mounting bearings and motors.

Motor control system and PC based CNC software.

You have got mad skills man. Great thread, tons of info and you can't beat that kind of hands on r&d.

One thing I have considered for my manifold and turbo are stage 8 locking fasteners, http://stage8.com/imports.html. I can't speak on their durability but should solve your problem of them backing off, and you could even safety wire on top of that I'm sure. GL w everything the evo is sick!
