Love it! I'm doing Lemons (similar to Chump) as well, but with a 97' Saturn SC2. Not a bad car at all for the event if you find one cheap.

Hunt for the E30 was not great, and the momentum collapsed for chump car. So I'm about to buy some Star Specs to mount on my 2nd set of NT03's as track day rain tires. I also have finished the huge 2 year project of building the CNC milling machine and I'm planning on spending the time to get the car ready to have fun with this spring and summer. Even my 3 year said "why haven't we taken the race car to the track anymore"!

I tuned the car, and Aaron at English Racing looked over it when we dynoed it down at their place.

I wrote the To Do list and taped it to the wind shield, so things are ready to see some work.

I did the e-version of this when my car was down. I created a to-do list in Google Docs and set it as my homepage, so that I was reminded that I needed to get to work every time I opened up Chrome

Well I've pretty much finished my milling machine project which has taken most of my time over the past two years. Just wrapped up the 2nd phase which was converting it from a 6 speed gear box with a max spindle speed of 1970 RPM to a 2 speed belt drive with a max RPM of 8000. I also added a pneumatic power drawbar to make tool changes faster, as well as more blue paint.

With that done I'm going to try and get some focus back on the car to get it out to the track more. Gonna add blue paint to my 2nd set of NT03's I bought last year, and grab some Star Specs to run as street/rain tires.

I need to go a remove the crappy tar putty body filler stuff from the footwells of the drivers and passenger areas. I know I've seen guys freeze it with dry ice and chip it out, as well as grind it out. I'm open to suggestions. Mine has turned into goo from the tunnel of the car getting hot at track days.

Here are a few photos from the 2nd phase of the milling machine for those interested.

2HP 3 Phase motor

Mounting plates for 5" 2 stage pneumatic cylinder.

The new motor and drawbar assembly.

Making micro V-Belt pulleys

Broaching huge keyways.

I've seen that blue before....

New high speed ABEC 7 bearings.

Spacing the belt drive pulleys correctly.

Belleville washers put a load on the drawbar and create compliance for releasing.

All Ready to go.

Finished up.

Here are some videos of the first tests of the higher speed spindle. Cutting a slot in a stainless steel 1911 slide, and then just an aluminum test part. A little plaque stating I was the best Foosball player in the office.

I am personally liking the Blue over the older Green for the wheels Looking forward to seeing this car get back on track this year and what cool parts you will be making with your new toy

Thanks,
Dallin

J-D, That setup is amazing!!!! Very excited to see what you can pump out with that setup!

Also, i'd be interested in commissioning a very easy component to be made in duplicate if you're interested.

Been thinking about doing the little trailer for towing crap tons of E85 and tires to the track. With the roll bar in the back I can do gas cans, but not tires. There's a track in the area now that is just far enough away that I don't want to drive there on race tires. So fitting both tires and 4-6 cans of E85 is a tricky deal.

So I think I'm going to build an aluminum tow hitch system. Seems like attaching a heavy steel trailer hitch structure is counter productive to the whole "race-car" idea. So I'll do a little analysis and then design, CNC machine, and weld together an all aluminum light weigh towing hitch. Should be sweet.
