Did a lot of work last week and weekend. Got the stock motor out. For my first time yanking an evo powerplant, it wasnt too bad. The trans fought me the whole way out lol. The tob clip was super easy, but getting the trans out was another story lol.

The first thing I noticed when the motor was out, was how huge the tcase is compared to the dsm tcase haha. I couldnt believe the size difference lol.

So the motor is out, I get all my goodies today! Hta86 turbo kit, Exedy triple(thanks StreeThisEvo) and a few other gaskets etc. I had to order a tap for the threads for the headstuds. I want to clean them out real good before the new ones go in. Should have the motor in this weekend, and if I am lucky, it will start sometime this weekend.

Empty bay!

2.3L shortblock awaiting assembly. Already drilled her for Mivec! Also O-ringed!!

Bathroom basement, what a great place for storage of important parts.

How long did it take you to pulled the engine? A 2.3 is very fun on the street I wished my was 2.3 when I had my evo, have you ever thought about keeping the green on a 2.3L?

All together, I think pulling the motor took me about 8hrs lol. This was spread out over a couple of days.

I thought about keeping the green, but to make great power, I would have to run e85, which I dont want to mess with right now. I am looking for a pumpgas monster lol. The hta86 should do.

I'm deployed right now, have been since September. Hope to be back in SC in April. Working on lightweight mods and maybe e85 tune. Debating on kelford 280 cams over my 272s. I have at least 6500-7400$ in parts I'm looking at or I just pay the car off in full hard to decide when u want parts lol. Still debating on keeping the stock ecu or go aem.

New wheels/tires
Coilovers
2 piece rotors
All buschur lightweight parts
Ceramic wheel bearings
Front and rear sway bars

I would love to see 700hp on e85
Lots of ideas, just need to wait and see what happens
O and driver mod I need to work on lol

Good luck on the build, 600hp on meth should be no problem.

Then I just need to learn how to drive lol

Well I got the motor and trans in last sat. I cant stress enough how much more of a pita this was compared to my old 1g dsm lol. After a long day on sat., I managed to get it all dropped in. Just waiting on an aluminum elbow that I need to weld onto the licp to fit up to the hta86. I did manage to pop the clutch clip once while trying to wrestle the trans in there. Had to take it all out and do it again lol.

Progress so far!

And yes, that is a 2x4. It actually came in quite handy. I basically made my own cheap engine supporter. With the 3 mounts being on the trans, the motor needs something to hold her up while IM fightin the trans. Engine support coast about $75, this ran me about $10 to make lol. It worked as a supporter and a pillow at times, while I was leaning over to work on the tcase haha.

Exedy Triple installed!

Turbo kit. I had to cut a little off the radiator pipe, so when its installed, it "stretches" the pipe a bit and pulls it away from the manifold. I need to re-wrap the upper pipe also to get it to cover more of the area thats closest to the mani.

Just waiting on a slim fan and aluminum elbow to mate the licp to the turbo. Oh, and got to fill her up with fluids.

Thanks man. Quick is what it looks like lol. In reality, it took me far longer to swap motors in the evo than it ever did with my 1g lol. This had me screamin some profane words left and right haha.

I cant wait to fire it up and get it tuned. I am havint Tom remote tune the car. We were still in the middle of a pumpgas tune on the green when I swapped everything over, so IM gonna continue working with him on it. The .63 exhaust my choke the turbo out some. Thats the disadvantage with it pieced together with the ams kit. I hope since I wont be running anything over mid 30s in boost, it wont choke it out too bad.
