JTs Drag Build

Hey EvoM,

UPDATE PAGE 11

DSM SHOOTOUT Page11

My First 9sec pass on page 9

Well I have a 2005 Evo8 and this will be my 3rd year with the car coming up. The car has been a Autox car for the last two years and I want to try something new. I have been going to JS Dyno to get tuned who now went together with TPG Tuning, they talked me into going all drag and I did drag the car a few times before but just for fun. Now time to focus on drag racing and I am pumped to be working with the guys at TPG for the 2013 season

My car all stock when I got it

Thats a picture of the car last year at a autox in buffalo

Sold the APR Wing and this is when I started to go more drag, towards the end of the summer

The setup I had on it for 2012:

Motor:
Stock Crank
Manley H beam 156mm Rods
Manley 85.5 pistons
ACL Bearings
ARP Studs
Gates Timing belt kit
GSC S2 Cams
1680s Bosch Injectors
Mishimoto Radiator and Fan
BR Baffled stock oil pan
BR Double Pumper
BR Oil Catch Can
A/C delete
ATP GTX3076R
Dejon 4in inlet Intake
E98 for gas

Suspension & brakes:
KSport Pro Coilovers
Stoptech Slotted Rotors
Stoptech Pads
Stoptech Stainless lines
Motul 600 brake fluid

Drivetrain:
Exedy Twin disc HD
Shep Street and Strip Trans
Shep Stage 1 transfer case

Interior:
Sparco Harness bar
BR Short Shifter
BR Base Bushings
BR Shifter Bushings
No CD player
No speakers
No Rear deck
No Rear door panels
No backseats
Nothing in trunk
Pulled all of the sound deadening

Exterior:
Ebay front lip (will get beat up autox)
APR GTC300 Wing
APR FRP Rear Diffuser

Wheels and Tires:
MR BBS (17x8)(Street)
Dunlop Direzza DZ101 P235/45R17
Rota DPTs (17x9)(Wet)
Dunlop Direzza Star Specs P255/40R17
RPF1s (17x9.5 +18)(Dry)
BFG GForce R1 slicks P255/40R17

August 2012:

Well we had some issues this summer with the atp gtx3076 so Jason at Tpg told me to get an evo9 turbo, so I did and we sent it to Curt Brown to get ported and then we put it on a few weeks before the shootout.

heres a video of it on the dyno...It made 371hp and 345torque with a forward facing intake just for the shootout

Shootout Time 2012:

I only could make it Sunday, since I work mon-sat, got to the track around 815 and got the car unloaded. I ran B1 since I really never did that much drag racing before and just wanted to see what I could do.

RPF1s had the slicks on them, werent the best since they werent for drag but did better than street tires

My first run was my best run lol and my gf didnt get it on film oh well. I ran 11.6 at 118.

My car at TPGs tent

The shootout was a blast! I learned a lot and cant wait to run next year, so after I got back to Erie it was time to go all out with it.

Started to pull the dash

Still have a lot of work to clean up the interior!! Need to take out more stuff that I dont need

For my 2013 setup:

Motor:
FF Manifold
HTA3586
Tial 44mm ewg
GSC S3 Cams
Turbo Tuff Rods
10:1 Compression
2150cc FIC Injectors

Exterior:
Angry Aero Bumper Shutters and Mirror Block offs

Interior:
Cage(but I would like to make a pass first and see what I run)
Stock seat for now

Brakes:
Stock for this year also

Trans:
Exedy Triple disc or something else not sure yet

Nov-Dec:

The past few weeks I have been doing a few things to the car

Pulled the wipers and motor out

Test fit with the FF Manifold (Off Eric Ingrams Evo thanks again Eric!!)

Got my 2150cc FIC injectors and I am going to send them out to get tested

Also got my AngryAero from Boostin Performance and Thanks Jason the parts are awesome!

Got the mirror deletes on going to do the bumper shutters later this week

My headgasket popped on my way home to Philly from Indiana and it happened to be right by JSDyno and 300 miles from my house so I had him do a head gasket. Did they move now?

Awesome build bro. Stay away from H beams if you really want to make some serious safely. I learned my lesson with 300 miles on a brand new build engine when a H beam failed on me at around 600whp during the tune. Im on a fpblack and its really tourqy when boost comes and and i think thats what broke the rod and pur 3 holes in my block

AND here it is! Nice to see you made a build thread. Glad I could be apart of your build!

As far as the clutch goes I would suggest the Quartermaster race version over the Exedy. There have been several cases of the clip popping off and ruining your day. Qm uses the hydraulic tob so you won't have that problem. Plus they have been proven to handle low 9 and 8sec passes. Best of luck anxious to see more!
