Figured I would give an update since I haven't posted in here for almost three months.
Currently at 6900 miles. Everything still solid. I was actually very close to getting rid of the car because I wasn't very happy with the Evo 10. Went back and forth on it. Ended up selling my Evo 8, which I thought I would never do, but I did. Was going to sell the 10 as well and get a 2014 Ford Fiesta ST because I think it's a remarkable little car for the price and being 1,000lbs lighter than the Evo it was (and still is) tempting.
However, for now I have decided to hold onto the 10 for now, and in order for me to hopefully enjoy it more, I'm looking to do some changes. At first I was thinking of purchasing a set of Ohlins but quickly realized I really didn't need that level or that expensive coilovers. So I'm going to pick up a set of H&R Coilovers. I'm also picking up a set of S04 tires and finally install my Whiteline rear sway bar. I think that will address most of the things I currently do not enjoy about the car.
I also just picked one of the new AEM 310LPH fuel pumps. The new shorter one that fits in the OEM pump assembly and has a E85 safe filter sock. I'm doing this to hopefully address my high IDCs.
Oh, and I need to pick up *one* new XXR wheel because I did this last week. Oops... :-/ This is why I don't buy expensive wheels.

that aem pump is interesting. the pump and the sock filter are "safe" but that pump mounts in the stock housing.
the filter in that housing isnt necessarily e85 safe is it?
hell, i'll go cut one open and find out in a few. brb

Mainly the weight. Other things are it feels very cheap and unrefined, and I'm comparing that to my Evo 8! Very noisey, the decel noise is ridiculous. My Evo 8 was never like that with the 6spd or the 5spd. The gearing also just totally sucks on the hwy.
Handling and ride, but that is hopefully what I am going to be addressing with these changes. It currently feels like a bumbling gorilla. I'm hoping that's not all the weight of the car and again, hoping that the next round of changes makes that better.
We'll see what the changes brings. If I'm still not satisfied, I'll look into getting rid of it. Figured I would at least give it another chance.

yeah man evo x is on the heavy side .... i have a mazda 2 overseas its lighter than a miata actually at like 2500lbs with 100hp ... i think i have more fun driving that car than the evo in city/town streets..... car is so nimble and its so much fun because it stops on a dime .. you dont even need brembos because the car is so light... so i get what you mean when u wanna get the focus ST ....the only reason i keep the evo x is becasue i want a track car thats pretty good out of the box ...
I don't get how you're so displeased with the X after coming from an RA.
Moving to an X MR from an VIII wasn't something I enjoyed.
MR felt soft even with the Spec-R's.
My GSR feels much better and less piggish than the MR and much more like an Evo.
I wish it had an extra gear and maybe a lil more punch from the turbo and the MR seats.
Overall I can't complain too much though as I thoroughly enjoy this car and love making my girl car sick in it.

Bought a used 2013 MR 3 weeks ago total newbie to these cars.( been driving a 4x4 dodge diesel since 2006) Was told it has swift springs sits pretty low and ride is a little wallowy to me. Looks like great gains for the mods. Will it pass smog ? What is IDC?Thanks
