I pulled the rear seat cushions to add a wire for a voltage gauge on the dash. As I move to a THREE voltage control pump system, I want to monitor the fuel pump voltage going from 9v to 14v to 17 (or 20) volts. The blue wire is to put the 0-5v back into the ECU for ethanol content. The 350il fuel pump has held up great for these years. The flat plate under the pump is carbon fiber bonded to the body of the car.

In other news, the car is getting new rubber bolted up this weekend as well as a completely different gauge layout using CARBON FIBER components in the interior.
The rubber is POTENZA RE-71RS which are supposed to be stickier than CUP 2 tires! Wheels are Enkei RPF1 18x19.5 +15 which drop the weight from 19.5lbs to 18.2lbs per wheel (same size, slightly different offset).
Since I am used to more flashy gold wheels, I added Gorilla blue-chrome lugs to make things pop at least a little bit.
The last track event the old worn-out pilot super sport tires were crying and turning to butter after only 2 laps. These things should really stick good!

Nice, I wanted to upgrade to the rpf1smyself rpf1s myself and I run the r71's myself and they are no joke for being sticky. Sucks when you go over gravel of any sort being the rocks don't wanna come off lol.

In a moment of weakness, I bought a bunch of dry carbon fiber from a USA company called carbonfiberracing
They told me their EVO X lineup was going end of life so I panicked.

First part installed today was radiator cover (pic below), and next up the interior and all gauges are being changed up with these dry carbon fiber components!!

Needed some trimming since I have a heat exchanger (1 of 3) for the SST on the crash beam. The quality is TOP NOTCH.

Nice updates! That dry carbon looks amazing. I'm running the 71rs' on stock wheels/spec and even in that size they PERFORM!! Eventually I wanna run the 10.5 rpf1s, but I wanna do suspension first.

My last tires were 71's, now I got a set 'o Firehawk 500. The hawks CRUSH the 71's, so far in every category. Dunno how wear will be but 3 summers from last set seemed fine, so if I get that I'll likely run another set...unless I get rich.

Weird, I feel the exact opposite. I originally had the Firehawk 500 and they did well on the street, but autox they suckedddd. Buts it's a 320tw vs a 200tw so it makes sense.

Dry carbon interior components, and new gauge layout complete! I can see my speedo (below 80mph even!) now!

The comment talked about lasting for 3 summers, so I don't think they were referring to competition performance.

I'd expect a 320TW tire to outlast a 200TW tire on the street, too.

EVERYONE runs this wheel... Didn't expect that much sticking out!!!
And while I had the wheels off... I found a BROKEN OEM SPRING... (passenger rear)... Due to rust the other springs don't look hot either... So OHLINS coilovers are on the way. Combined with these sticky tires, I cannot wait for the next track event (Aug & Sept)...

How much camber are you running?

With a little more camber those might tuck better than you would expect under compression.

When the Ohlins arrive I suggest mounting them first without springs. Put the wheel on and cycle the suspension up and down with a floor jack.

I WAS running OEM recommended camber and toe... What is recommended by "the community" for additional camber for fitment on wheels such as these and a step towards track focused setup?

Track duty calls for significantly more camber. I don’t know about the Evo X platform specifically, but you’re going to want something starting around -3 front and -1.5 to -2 rear.
