Ooooooooooooohhhhhh, it's been so long you say? Did he rack it again you say? Some crap about porridge and bears you say? WELL NONE 'O THAT, more like saving me sheckles for that thing about making my car live longer than me. To that end...well I don't have pics of sensors but believe you me I got a passle! New MAP, front O2, all ABS(only need 1 but future needs), cam sensor and just to have a MIVEC solenoid.
The big deal deal of biggness is the fricking trans-the hell-mission! Built, ready to ship, pics but the video no bueno other than sound. Ooo-la-la they say!
Yes, it is a 6 speed. Yes it is best for me and what I like. Yes the rest of driveline is gonna happen but c'mon, I'm a peasant with a quick car...and a GF who sorta likes the car? Next will be t-case but that's next years big budget thing, so if you got a cheap ACD unit I be looking about November. Enough squawkin' THEY SAYYYYY! Some tranny guts and ***** to woke blah blah, do I look like I got programmed to frickin' feel!?! Hard, durable, fancy tranny guts I say!

Reason: grammar nazi...or nerd, whatever suck eggs
Wow, super nice pieces / parts. Youre doing the trans re-build yourself?
Haaaaa, my current ball size isn't up to that, shop costs are the least bit of this so no point risking messing it up myself. Plus shipping a big box was cheaper than separate items, I looked and it ended up being same price at Jacks to get it built vs collecting parts to try myself. So I went for treated gears. Immortal car or some such folly. For longevity I also went brass vs carbon synchros.

Friggitty' fraggin' froggin' fruck! So anyway, we all know what it;s like to get your car all ripped into to try a thing and bloody well FAIL! I personally do not really accept defeat easily to a point of madness. Like hard to keep friends cause most men are weak useless shadows of what they should be. Like I don't care if your Grampa loves you, that's a given, is he IMPRESSED by your skills? That kinda thing.
What's all that phooey gotta dooey with cars?
My torch is too wee.
Blasted front O2 sensor man, what an unwanted dick pic that is! So sure I have a propane finger of flame but I never went after one of these before and do not have an oxy flame...which I now know I need. I am not taking the car to a shop again unless it's welding as there are issues from the last adventure. Solution you might wonder? Well the guy I bought the transmission from thinks well of me because money is already his and he has a stock O2 housing kicking about with I believe fresh bolts that he gonna sell me. More shipping chews goat cack but it'll be under 200$CAD so fine. The sensor getting real wonky. I mean, at least I got fresh coolant in. Grumble grumble mutter mutter... And any idiot can swap this, sure did help idle though.
Some rapscallion did indeed add fuel to my paranoia and distrust of not me doing the thing my own damn self! Like you know when the bloody bolt was there before you took your car to a shop because welding? Due to the fact you tried your own damn self to do the thing and had the front end torn the hell apart!?!
If any of this is familiar to you then you will be shocked...or amused if your soul is black as pitch(even worse, that Vanta crap!)...that a bolt and spring costs 50$CAD in this current era. Like what the crap dude, how does one go missing?
Those have an annoying habit of vibrating loose if not torqued correctly. I can relate a similar story which happened to me when I took mine for a clutch. It was returned with no front engine mount bolt which was claimed to have vibrated loose on my journey home. This is possible - but only if it was not tightened right!
Here we are once again, with me yobbin' on about nobody cares what. Sure my mom says she cares but I know it's all lies.
None of that matters because I've been on a pretty solid rampage of repairs.
Check engine lights, gone. Was not what I bought a pile of parts for but I say all good learning. And the nuclear option might be overkill so don't be so bloody jumpy! Friggin' o-rings man.
Dancy *** end and boings to make you go mad? Yeah, installed end-links wrong and did it all to myself, blah! Now I know so there's that learning malarkey some more.
So feelin' pretty bold and kingly so it's time to tackle the 3 lights all ACD users puke a little every time we see.
Do you have 2 pumps? Me too! Weird, I got one when mine didn't work after sitting for years. I swapped 'em and for what!?! ARGH. Stupid sunuva...anyway got the rebuild kit and put the bugger to use and rebuilt a pump. Who knew it would need it all too?
Have I met with immediate success? Of course not, why would that ever happen!?! No, pretty confident all it needs now is to manually for sure be bled. I dunno how if I'm using evoscan right to do it so plan on forcing whoever seems likely to push a pedal at the right time to help me while a crawl around under the car.
I should buy some ramps... If you plan on rebuilding a pump, spray the bolts with penetrant then let it sit for like...a year-ish worked for me. Also, very grungy. I get the kit from some Brit wit stainless plate not some for sure gonna rot coated baloney. Putting it back together gets *****y I tell you what! So I put some sealant around the ingress edges. I might now be good at swapping this pump.
Holy hell in a hand basket! Friggin' pump man...anyway, IT IS FINALLY FIXED! After much hassle and many swaps I for sure toasted the motor or didn't put it together properly yet. So I said ***** to this all and ordered a new motor from the guys makin' 'em. Another 500$ item...at least the guys are Canadian so free shipping for once, HUZZAH!
Back on the car and about as new as it can get. Fresh solenoid from ze Russians, stainless pump plate from Britannia and a motor from right here 3000 miles away in Canada! I burned an entire tank of fuel waiting for the 3 lights fire up, they did not. I drove like a madman through some corners and quite certain the unit is now functioning correctly! Next is scheming up a proper shield/bucket for that damn pump!
The new motor is very much an upgrade. It ditches the bearing for a better housing they claim is better sealed from the elements.
What? Was I correct? Well the frlippin' brand new DW 200 wasn't the answer as it's dead out the box! Crap thing is I bought it years ago for the original chassis in case of failure. So no dice on warranty, what a waste!
Little clarity, obviously I think my fuel pump is/was dying based on it making some wonky noises, some screwy idling(plugs got 10k on em but look fine) and my car randomly just dying. I been chasing idle issues. Fix one, good a week then something else. Stock pump in the box, Amazon unit in the tank, car fired up and idles smooth like butter! Did I fix the thing!?!
So I dig out the fresh new pump, swap it out(quite easy) and NOTHING! As a rookie of course I put everything back together assuming it would fire right up. Instead I get BUPKUS! Where's the whine!?! From me for a hot minute! So back in goes old pump to see if I'm insane. Nope, old pump fires up and goes with the wonky(bearing dying?) inconsistent noises.
Decided to just order 60$ unit from Amazon to see what happens before I go ***** deep with rail, regulator and...a Bosch pump? I'm not feeling positive about big brand names right now.
Wow just read through this whole thread. You completed and learned alot. This is motivating. I will be starting a project in the near future. (no where near as intense as your) !
Great job and thank you for sharing your story/resurrection !
