That plug looks like its for your boost control solenoid.
T'was! Thanks for the tip.
Big news gang.
I had forgotten how glorious these machines truly are.
It passed inspection and is now legally allowed on the roads. One little hiccup was a missing signature on the ownership transfer form! **** me. At the insurance place and this is what stops me from getting a plate. 243 miles to guys house. He lives in Kelowna which is altogether too bloody hot for me...what's 41c turn into for you Yanks? IT'S TOO DAMN HIGH! But I had already paid for the 1 day transit insurance and the lady at the desk said well yeah, I could do that drive in my time window. She also 100% supported the idea and when a full on Mom lady thumbs ups some slight lunacy...strap in kids! Texted guy to let him know I was on my way and his signature was not optional and we're off!
Couple things from the rundown...yeah, the way fender liners tie into undertray is in fact quite essential to stay put. Yes, that means I lost a liner. Fudge. Oh well got a spare(little mangly though) and that was the only bad thing of my little trip. I'm not sure exactly why but the front end feels lighter than 9 did. Is it from screwy aero from lack of tray? Is it from stance being off due to springs(yeah, I got spring clamps to swap em)? Is it from ACD currently no go? Was that little lip under lip anti lift lip thing really doing a lot? I'm not a real racer so unsure how to identify reasons for variance in handling feel...apart from tires. Holy crap on a cracker the grip from the RE71 is crazy compared to anything else I've driven on. There's this sharp corner I like that is flat and doing 35mph around it is bonkers and these didna even make a peep, stock tires squealed banshee style. I think the rear sway bar is good but might be mistaking it for tires...or lack of ACD?
Bloody good thing I put it together stock style or it would not have passed inspection. Also the DRL thing needed to pass? Well that thing is garbage, keeps high beams on at low power ALWAYS. Oncoming traffic hates the HID's enough, this had everyone flashing me in fury so that crap will coming out as soon as it stops raining.
Evo's really are the best. I had forgotten and so glad this car is back on the road.
Oh yeah, I did my mad run and got the dudes signature and this morning finished the paperwork...and paying blasted taxes on a bloody used car...but anyway, I GOT A ****ING PLATE AND MY EVO IS LEGIT!!!!!
Congrats man I bet it feels great finishing a project like this and enjoying the results.
Finished? NEVVVAAAHHHHH! But it sure as hell does feel pretty amazing to pilot a super car again, especially one that I put together in a crazy 'against all odds' kinda thing.

Thanks man and I actually AM a hard worker. Mostly cause I prefer goofing around so might as well get **** done pronto. Screw toiling I only got this life.
Bolsters are good for dogs too! Yes I let dogs in the car, yes I always ALWAYS have seat covers.
Those fantastic Russians! The solenoid is arrived!!!!!! Not much to say about that so a couple pics to get away from all the type-y type lately. YESSSS! Missing that screwball sized o-ring but this is the big deal bit! ****ing love Russia! This is the POS daytime running light module that keeps high beams running on low volts AS LONG AS THE CAR IS ON. Idiotic. Cost me 700(install was a rip off) because I was thinking it would save me time and money letting a skilled wire-er do it, learned hard, meh. Needed to pass inspection so it's ouuta there. To hook up to leads from stereo, where you guys think is a good spot to mount this, gotta cut a hole so think stealth locale.
It has been a helluva run. Close to a dope ride now though, just ordered new rear shocks cause all 3 sets I own are trash. Also gotta build a new undertray and will use aluminium sheet cause stock is near 300$CAD and beatrush/laile/whatever is all 600+.
Well, looks like I gotta rebuild my ACD pump after all...maybe, still gonna try some stuff to be sure it is buggered. As it is now the solenoid is in and it's holding fluid, lights work properly for about 1.5 minutes before they all fire up so I'm guessing/hoping that means it's not building pressure properly and needs rebuilt.
Shocks were ordered from a Canadian vendor going on the idea they would arrive this week and be on for long weekend, Friday at 4pm I get email saying blah blah will ship Saturday Sept. 5. That's likely BS cause here it's a frickin long weekend! So I end up spending 40$ more to save time that is lost, grr. Oh well. Fender liner is installed and I bought a big sheet of aluminium to build an undertray. 60$ instead of 600+shipping(200?) for after market or 200+ship for stock. On a random Android note, you guys heard of/running CarBit app? It's AWESOME!!! I think, better than torque for what it knows about MUT from what I can tell. It seems to claim it will display/log WBO2 and whatever ECU pumps out so maybe some legit smart guys will check it out. Mmmmmmm, fresh. Installed all the other fender liner bits n bobs as well. What a sight to behold! For all of 2 minutes until they all came on again. Right, we are looking at ACD lights here. I had just fired it up after running Evoscan actuator crap, not sure it worked so will be forcing a pal to help me manually bleed system. Carbit app, check it out. Is it awesome or am I just a dumb? 3'x7'x.032 alum sheet will become new undertray, I got better **** to spend big bux on. Oh yeah, ****in dinks gimme a ticket for no front plate. I'm goin' tuh COURT!
I think that's MUT over OBD which works, but is super slow. Would be awesome if its real deal MUT but from what I have read the elm adapter doesn't support it. Depending on what your doing that might be fine (slow things like temps), but I don't think it would be good enough to replace real instrumentation for say a boost gauge or wideband.
Soooooooo...dafuq? There I was all happy slappy chappy when things decided to get mildly crappy. I thought it was a bulb, you know, because the fast blink of a fault in turn signal circuit and it's usually a bulb. Not this time! So I figure it's gotta be a fuse right? Change fuse(wasn't blown but I did buy that big *** box o fuses) and still fast blinky and no front driver turn signal. In case you were wondering that's the spot in question. So I check all plugs and wiring all the way along and it all seems good. I dunno what the hell is wrong now.
So I needed a win and installed the sub...which went off without a hitch!
Then I just did some sleuthing about the signal light and it's a good thing I got a spare ETACS ECU that will likely go in tomorrow just to see if that's the issue. I ran amp power along strut bar then through firewall into passenger footwell and ran RCA cables along other side with video cable and crap. Also got some use outta the box o shrink sleeves I bought. Should take better pics. From what I can tell USDM ETACS is same 2003-2006 and this should work, right? I used to think immobilizer was in here, silly me...kinda want some Trix...
I am somewhat bemused by my attempt to save time by ordering rear shocks from a Canadian supplier. It cost me 30$ more and the idea was it would be faster ordering from in country during corona. Yeah, no, not workin out that way at all. Finally got tracking and estimated delivery is still NEXT BLOODY WEDNESDAY. Better be the right parts...B6HD is what's coming. I am stoked. Still haven't had time to fab up undertray but the clips showed up.
It is maybe a touch silly that I'm always ready to go nuclear on any problem...so I hadda go drive a bit and the blinker worked intermittently so obviously a loose/grounded wire. Wiggled and stuffed at all the things and so far so good! HAHA.
More better-ness though is the shocks finally showed up! Got springs swapped on and just need to get 'em on the car, looking forward to is cause the rear sagging is sucking. Is there a paint ship missing from brand new shocks? Grrrrrrr, yes. Am I patient enough at this point to bother pissing away another 2 months over it? Nope, I got paint. Old ones really do look of crap. I gotta get a new phone.
Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy! I knew the old shocks were kickin rocks but holy FAWK! That went in so easy I'm still amazed...or I'm getting better at how this all comes apart. Yeah, goin for the ego stroke! K, nooooow I can worry about Swifts and a roll center kit but man does that ever sit better and no more clonking in the *** end.
Sure glad I didn't **** away 600$ on something that wasn't needed. Car feels waaayyyyyyy better and eats bumps like a pro!
What piece o crap have I cobbled up now? 032 aluminium finally got hacked up...because my new fender liner got a little rubbed out! Dammit. Drill, snips, dremel, tape measure and a piece o 2x4. Came out nice and stiff and light...not maybe so pretty but chew dix if ya got a problem. I know yer jelly and kinda wanna hack up some metal now, admit it! And a red sharpie. That's how I ran the sub power, s'fine right?
